ever since she had lost katsuki, her seasonal depression got worse. the colder weather and shorter days as winter slowly turned to spring didn't help either; it put her in more of a depressed state than ever.

she lost some of her appetite, stopped going out with her other friends nearly as often, and would hardly come out of her dorm room after classes were over.

___

"[y/n], may i come inside?" a soft voice asked, and when it was met with a muffled 'sure' he opened the door to find a good friend of his curled up on her bed with the curtains drawn and the only source of light and sound being the blacklight fish-tank she had insisted she got for her birthday.

"[y/n]..." was all the boy could mumbled as her head lazily peaked up to look at him before laying back down.

"mhm?"

"come out for a bit, will you please? i'll make us tea..."

silence was nested between the two as a barrier until she spoke. "alright."

"make sure to wear a sweater, and your shoes." he said as he got up from his position of sitting on the end of her bed.

"why?"

"its sunny out today. the snows all melted, and it's ten degrees..."

"i will then."

___

warm black mugs nestled in the hands of the two as lavender tea steamed into the air and surrounded them with its sweet aroma. a red and black flannel blanket laid snuggly on their laps as they softly rocked in the rocking swing located on their dorms balcony.

the girls navy sweater sleeves, which were far too big for her, acted as a sort of cushion to make sure her hands didn't burn on the cup as she wrapped her fingers protectively around the drink, making the boy smile.

it was her favourites sweater, and he had gifted it to her on her birthday. it meant a lot to her, as it was one he had for years and was a gift from his mother. she had stolw it whenever she had the chance, and when she unwrapped it as a gift it made her tear up. there wasn't anything romantic behind it, in fact he had been trying to date a different girl in their class. it was simply a gesture between good friends. it cheered him up now to see her in it, as he knew it made her happy whenever she wore it and provided some soft of comfort in her time of hardships.

he wore a matching red sweater, which kept him warm from the cool and soft breeze blowing through the air. the breeze ruffled the hair of the trees, as well as their very own locks, and carried the sounds of the busy streets and the classes working outside on the weekend to help up their game.

"i saw a robin this morning," todoroki said softly, his gaze straight ahead at the blossoming trees, "and a squirrel yesterday, and a bunny the day before that..."

he gave her a side glance. "you know what that means?"

"spring," she said, hope in her voice. "the time change is tonight too, which means spring officially starts in a week."

"you know it."

before the silence could settle again, he continued to speak. "i know why you've been feeling like this, and i know it isnt simple, nor easy, but please don't let bakugou ruin your time. this is our senior year, and you shouldn't let his crude actions bring you down. you know that no matter what, i'm always going to be here for you, so please don't feel alone either. i doubt this is going to be the end of your friendship, and i'm sure you both are going to look back on your times and realize how much you both miss each other. with the chemistry between you two, there's no way that this is the end of your relationships."

taking a sip of tea, she said, "i hope not."

spring is a time for change.
