My Name in Lights

Chapter 2

Courtney's POV:

"HELLO THERE ANGEL FROM MY NIGHTMARE!" My alarm went off quite loudly.

I groaned and slowly got out of bed. Today was the start of senior year.

I had to admit, I was actually pretty excited.

I decided to take a shower. So I went inside my bathroom and stripped my pajamas off quickly.

After about ten minutes, I got out and headed back into my room.

I decided on an outfit pretty quickly. I put on a pair of denim shorts and a white top that said "Peace" on it.

I then threw my hair up into a messy bun and applied mascara and a thin coat of black eyeliner onto my eyes.

Once satisfied, I walked downstairs and headed into the kitchen.

"Morning Liz." I greeted my step mom with a small kiss on the cheek.

"Good morning sweetie. I made you some toast with Vegemite. It's on the table." She said.

"Thanks. You know me all too well." I chuckled.

I sat down at the island and ate my toast quietly.

Liz may be by stepmom, but her and I are really close. My biological mother died when I was thirteen. I struggled for a long time with depression and self harm, but then Liz and Luke came into my life. I'm much better now thanks to them.

I was interrupted by Liz speaking. "Oh and Court, dad and I are going to be heading into the city today to meet up with the bands management. So Luke and you are on your own after school."

"Okay that's fine." I winked and smiled.

After I finished eating, I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth.

After I was done, I grabbed my car keys and headed out the door.

Here's to a new school year.

I parked my car and took the key out of the ignition.

As soon as I got out, I spotted my best friend Leanne. We've known each other for a very long time.

"Leanne!"I yelled.

She turned around and her chocolate, wavy hair flipped over her shoulder.

She squealed as soon as she saw me and we ran towards each other.

"Ahhhh!!! Court! I've missed you so much! How was your summer?!" Leanne said excitedly.

"It was really good! How about you? Let me guess. It was super because you spent two months in Hawaii." I laughed.

"Ding ding. We've got a winner." She said sarcastically.

We engaged in conversation and walked into the main building.

The warning bell rung as I headed to my locker.

I was pretty bummed because I had just gotten my schedule and I didn't have one single class with Leanne. Dammit.

I just sighed.

After opening my locker, I felt two hands cover my eyes.

"Guess who?", an all too familiar voice questioned.

"Nick!", I squealed.

"Hey Cour whore!" He said.

"Hey Nick the dick!" I laughed.

Yeah. We have a really weird relationship. These are basically the nicknames we made up for each other. Aren't we so nice to each other.

He jokingly gasped,"You just called me a bad word!"

"Oh please you idiot!" I said pushing him slightly.

"So how was your summer, even though I saw you like every single day." Nick said.

"It was good thank you. And how about..." I said but trailed off once I spotted her.

Nicolette Waters....

"Nick babe. Hi!" Her god awful voice rang straight through my ears.

Nick and her started talking and then started kissing. Was I seriously that invisible?

I just sighed and grabbed my bag and headed off to homeroom.

Wow. What a great way to kick off senior year!
