Phoenix's words were still stuck in my head, even as I walked around the Alpha's house in the dark.

Skulking was something I did often on my missions, the reason's for it were varied but this time I was looking for quick exits through the house.

So far I'd found several, however as I headed passed the bathroom to my room, I bumped into someone in the dark.

"Oh, excuse me." I said as I looked down at the tired face before pausing.

"Red? What are you doing here?" I asked the Alpha as she pushed some of her hair out of her face.

"What?" She asked sleepily, and I realized I'd used my little nickname for her.

"What are you doing up so late?" I asked casually as she turned to face me head on.

She was wearing a tank top and pajama bottoms which complimented her pear shaped form nicely as she put her hands on her hips.

"I could ask you the same thing." She said with a closed off frown.

"Touchy aren't we? Did you have a bad dream or something?" I asked with a lightly teasing grin.

That wasn't intentional, I was treating her more like a kid than a woman, which was bad if I was supposed to be interested in her.

Red simply snorted. "And if I did? It's none of your business, this is my house." She said while folding her arms.

"Fair enough." I raised my hands in surrender. "But really, What are you doing up? Is something wrong?"

"It's none of your concern!" She snapped when I noticed a letter sticking out of her pajama bottom pocket.

"Well I consider myself to be a rather pushy, curious type." I said, going around her and swiping the piece of paper.

"Hey!"

She reached for the letter but I set a hand on her head, keeping her from reaching it as I read a bit of it.

'Dear Sister,
How are you doing? I heard you took on the Pack as your own. Won't that be hard for you? You could just come here and live with me and Richard. It'd be no problem, I mean, isn't that what sisters are for?'

I frowned, it was from her sister? She was trying to convince her to give up on the pack and leave? That, that was awful.

I then noticed the curvature of the letters and how the flow seemed to stutter at times.

Phoenix, she'd written and taken the letter to Red as a way to try and get her to leave the pack.

The blonde's words finally made sense. But even though I could use this, it felt, so wrong to manipulate Red this way. She was just a kid after all.

"Seems a bit harsh, as far as I've seen, you run this pack pretty well." I said, crumpling up the letter and tossing it away.

Red watched me throw the letter in surprise before slowly looking back up at me.

"What?"

I smirked playfully, leaning on her head like she was a shelf, making her stumble a little.

"I mean, I don't agree with your tactics, but this pack is still functioning. Slowly, but surely, it's getting back on it's feet."
The red head forced me off of her with a frown.

"Why are you saying this?" She asked with suspicion.

"Saying what? The truth? If your sister doesn't believe in you, that's fine. But I don't think you should listen to what she thinks." I told her while folding my arms.

I was playing at the trust card, my goal was to get her out of the way. Convincing her to go and live with her sister would be a good way to get her out of the way without killing her.

But from what I'd seen of her, she wouldn't give up on her pack just like that, it was an easy way out, and this kid was determined to ignore those ways out of the problem.

So playing at her trust was the better option, especially in the long run. Although I didn't know how long that run would be, I decided to go with my gut anyways. It never let me down before.

I blinked at Red for a minute before noticing the tears running down her cheeks. She grabbed me around the waist, hugging me tightly.

I tensed in surprise, just like that, one of her walls had crumbled to my feet as she hugged me. But, she shouldn't be trusting me.

I hugged her back, admittedly, hesitant.

She looked so small all of a sudden, so young. Her hair was soft, her curls a bit more wild than usual from sleep.

I patted her head gently, almost petting her as she calmed down.

"Thank you Alexander, that means a lot." Her muffled voice spoke and I felt pain in my chest.

"No problem Red."
