The day after, Bea woke up early due to her morning class. She arrived safely to her class.
"Pass your designs next meeting. Class dismissed."
"YEEEEEES! More sleep!" She rejoiced quietly.
She felt something vibrated while she's fixing her stuff. It was her phone in her back pocket. She got it and looked at it.
Text message from Lou
Tapos na ba class mo? Sabay na tayong kumain. Let's meet na lang there.
She replied.
Oo katatapos lang. How about you?
She came back to fixing her stuff. She felt it again and read the message.
Text Message from Lou
She went out of her room while replying to Lou.
HAHAHAHA God bless! Wag kang matulog. Pagtiisan mo na lang 'yang prof mo. I'll order for you na. Look for me na lang later. Sige na, listen well.
She kept her phone and made her way to the cafeteria. The place was full of students. She lined up and ordered for the both of them. She looked for a vacant table and found a four-seater one.
She set their orders aside. Bea's not used to eat alone when she has company because she feels like it's rude so she waited for Lou to arrive.
She opened her planner and wrote everything she needs to comply so far. In the middle of writing her sched next week, she felt as if someone's standing in front of her. Hindi siya nagkamali nang she stopped what she's doing and looked up. There's a guy wearing a bag standing, holding a tray and a smile that made the woman sitting uncomfortable. Not to mention, he is tall and moreno.
"Hi Ms." The guy greeted.
Bea doesn't seem to determine her feelings about what's happening.
He seems very familiar. Have we met? She asked herself.
Inalala niya ang place o event na they saw each other but she doesn't remember any. Hindi niya namalayang nakatulala na siya hanggang sa napansin niyang the guy is already waving his hand in front of her face.
"What is it?" Mataray niyang sabi.
Even though she wants to be polite, she can't. She has built her walls high and she doesn't want anyone, heck not a stranger, to break it. Call her mababaw but it's her. She doesn't give her trust easily. She's not used to talking with strangers.
"Puno na kasi yung cafeteria." He started.
Pagkasabi niya nito ay pinagmasdan niya 'yung buong lugar. Tama naman, puno na nga.
He scratched his nape and smiled nervously.
"Pwede bang makiupo?" The guy asked her. She knows he's shy and that's for sure.
"I promise I won't bother you." He persuaded her.
"I'm sorry but I have someone with me. You can just ask another person." She straightly said and went back to what she's doing.
"Oh. It's okay. I understand. Sorry sa abala."
Bea just nodded.
"Wait. Is that Thirdy?" Lou asked herself, definitely wondering if it's the guy or not.
The bag on his arm was all it took to make Lou sure that it was him. Pareho kasi sila ng bag. She called him.
"Thirdy?" She asked. This caught the attention of the woman sitting.
"No." Bea whispered.
Hindi niya rin alam why she said that.
Thirdy felt that there's someone who called him. He turned around and saw Lou, his blockmate.
Sinenyasan siya ni Lou na lumapit sa kanila and he did.
"Lou? Ikaw ba yan?" Tanong ni Thirdy kay Lou
"Eto naman. Syempre." Sagot ni Lou sabay tawa ng kaunti
"Why are you holding your tray pa? Hindi ka pa ba nakahahanap ng mauupuan? Come on, dito ka na lang. Dalawa lang naman kami." Pag-iimbita ni Lou kay Thirdy
Lou gave Bea her convincing look - the look na hindi natatanggihan ng best friend niya. She doesn't approve of the idea...
... but she knows na wala na siyang magagawa. "It's up to you."
Bea cleaned up her things and placed it back to her bag. She introduced them to each other.
"By the way, Thirdy this is Bea, my bestest friend."
"Beh, si Thirdy, my blockmate."
"Hi Ms. Bea."
Thirdy offered his hand to Bea.
"Beatriz na lang because we aren't close. Also, please stop calling me Ms., Thirdy."
She looked intently to his eyes. She doesn't want strangers to call her by her nickname. She shook his hand.
"Sorry, Thirds. Hindi lang talaga komportable si Bea sa ibang tao."
The guy looked to Bea after Lou said those words. On the other hand, Bea is just staring at Lou. Thirdy believed Lou because Bea didn't say anything.
"Okay, Ms. Bea."
"Whatever."
"Ok. Let's eat."
