I highly recommend that you go watch the drama if you go into this book knowing nothing. you will get confused and may miss some important parts. This book will cover most parts of the drama except the Yin city arc. Another important thing is that the main story of Wei wu xian and Lan wang Ji will appear but IS NOT the main part of this story. They will have a background romance.

Golden core: A core in which every person in the cultivation world has. Using cultivation they can train there core and make it stronger. A golden core is the key element of every person and losing it would be like losing their life. You can never pick up a sword again as that is tied to their spiritual energy.
Cultivation: It can be done in many ways but most involve meditation and sword training. You can also cultivate using instruments. By learning a certain instrument you would have another form of self-defense besides just a sword. By playing different songs you can cleanse a person's soul or kill the person internally. you can also communicate to spirits
Spiritual energy: the energy inside someone which can help them cultivate. If you don't have a golden core then you would have low spiritual energy. In order to increase spiritual energy, you would have to meditate.
Yin iron: A iron that is reportedly said to be the bridge between heaven and earth. In this story, it was created by Nu Wa The goddess of creation
Stygian Tiger Seal (阴虎符, Yīnhǔfú): One of Wei wu xian's most famous inventions (This item will be referenced in later chapters and is not important as of now)
