Yaling woke up with a gasp and looked around in a panic. Sighing when she saw nothing she rubbed her temples and sat up from the bed. Another nightmare Yaling thought. It may be a bad sign of the future although I have been stressed recently. Lighting the lamp on her desk she decided to continue the book she has yet to finish.
She didn't want to wake her brother for no reason. They were going to set off for cloud recess in the morning and her brother should take his much-needed rest. Picking up the book she flipped to where she left off. It was near the end of the book so finishing the book should not take long Yaling thought.
Looking to her left she saw the things she had packed. Her clothing and snacks were one side and her music sheets, books, and calligraphy brush were on the other side. It was kept in the case that was given to her by Nu Wa when she first left for the earth 2 years ago. she had chosen to leave her qin at the mansion as that would have been a hassle to carry. It could be summoned at any time to her if she needed anyways. as of now It sat on the front of her desk unused but in perfect condition.
Deciding to finish her book later on her journey she put it in the case as well and finally closed it. Throwing on her white outer robe she opened the door to outside. Before fully stepping outside she made sure to grab one of her blade fans from her bedside table as well as her dark green ribbon.
Now fully outside she took a moment to admire the sky. It was a sea of orange, red, and yellow with some white clouds in the sky and birds flying overhead. She looked at it with a small smile before sitting near the water on a rock to meditate. Unfortunately, she was interrupted ten minutes later by the sound of someone running.
The person running was incredibly light on their feet and you could almost never hear them coming unless you had a trained ear. Then she heard the sound of guards falling in the background and the sound of a slight struggle. She knew it wasn't her brother pulling a prank on her and nobody in the Zhang mansion ever wakes up this early. That was enough for her to snap her fingers which tied her hair into a ponytail and pulled out her blade fan. The fan had 6 blades attached to it and had a painting of the Zhang mansion on it.
At this point, she knew that there were 4 people around her. They were trying to approach her as quietly as possible and it was quickly starting to get on her nerves. Although she considered herself a very tolerant and considerate person she really was not having it with the four assassins surrounding her. If they wanted to kill her so badly why would they make this effort? Unless they wanted to kidnap her which could make sense. She is considered to be from a pretty prominent clan and could go for a large amount of money.
Standing up from the rock she asked them what they wanted with her. One of the assassins told her that they were here to kidnap her. At this point, she wanted to smile at the stupidity of the assassin. Why would he ever tell her his plan?
"Well if you want to kidnap me then make your move. " Yaling said
The assassins needed no further instruction as they moved to attack her but they were dead before they could even touch her. Yalin pulled out her bladed fan and spun around in a circle, releasing the six blades from her fan, onto the 4 assassins. the blades hit their heart and they fell to the ground instantly. their swords fell next, making a clash on the ground. She raised her hand and the water nearby moved to collect the body of the assassins and drag them to the ocean.
She waved her fan again and the six blades embedded into the assassins came flying back towards her. With a flick of her wrist, all the blood on her blades was gone. When she heard another set of footsteps she pulled out one of the blades from her fan and threw it. When it didn't embed itself within the target she turned around and visibly relaxed when she realized it was only her brother.
"A-Xiang. What are you doing up so early? I didn't wake you did I?" Yaling said worriedly. Her Brother had just finished wrestling with his demons yesterday and should have taken a rest. This time it was harder to calm him down for some reason and it worried her. Usually playing the song demons rest would clear it up but this time she had to put a lot more force into it than usual.
Demons rest was a song she composed to be played on the qin specifically for her brothers' needs. Before that, they would have to let the demons out and then defeat them via fighting them but after she created this song it was different.
Shaking his head he answered his little sister."No. But the sound of screaming certainly did. I knew you were outside because your door was open so I went to go check what it was. When I saw you drag them into the water I knew you were safe. It was assassins no? They have been coming a lot recently. I wonder who would want you?"
Nodding her she told him that they were going to Lotus pier in about 20 minutes because they had received an invitation yesterday for Jiang Fengmian. They wanted the children of the Zhang sect and Jiang sect to set off together as they were close with each other and their fathers were good friends. She noted the assassination attempts but didn't really want to get involved again. she will start caring if they attack at Cloud recess of lotus pier as those are incredibly high guarded places. The Zhang mansion doesn't have much security cause it knows of their godly abilities. It is known by every person in the mansion although it is forbidden to talk about.
Yaling and Xiang went to one of the maids in the Mansion and told her about their departure. "If anyone asks where we went, tell them that we left for Lotus pier. We will be setting off in about 15 minutes and guards will not be necessary. I and a-Xiang will fly there, so do not wake up the boat manager. Could you please get our cases in our rooms please?" Xiang said
the maid nodded and went to their rooms to grab their cases. She came back and wished the pair a safe trip and told them to send a letter back telling the rest of the sect that they had made it to Gusu. She told them that Their mother will take charge of the sect while they are away as well as their father.
The pair smiled and said their goodbyes as well. They assured her that they would have a safe trip. Lifting their cases up they spread their arms out on either side and brought them above their head to fly up. They then put them behind their back and flew towards the lotus pier. The maid looked at them with a small smile before retreating back deeper into the mansion.
