There was a time, before the war, before everything went awry. This time was one of peace and tranquility that I now know I'll never see again. I was 14 when I pulled into this mess. I lived an innocent life of celebration and games. We'd gather around a campfire during the summer and we'd rest under the stars. This was a moment of bliss. The inevitably of the war never occurred to us, but it soon will.
James, my right-hand man, sat, singing tunes to lighten the mood. We all joined in, everyone, even Willaim Murphy. He wasn't one for pleasantries.
"Let's make this a night we'll never forget!" Yelled Ian Burke. He always wanted to make every night the best night ever.
"NOOOO!" A voice sang. I turned to see Eric Baseman jumping from a chair to make all eyes point towards him. He's a nice man with a heart of gold.
"Aw come on!" Lucas Ralston facetiously yelled, "This is going to be our night whether you like it or not."
"Why would he not want this night to be our night?" Jackson Albert questioned."It's sarcasm Jack, come on." I replied. "I was being sarcastic too, geez," Jack replied.
"Who cares? Let's just enjoy this." Eric stated. These were the nights that I'd come to miss.
The days before Operation Gossamer. It started in school. Everything was innocent and quiet. I walking down the hallway, empty and dark. I was walking to visit the guys in the green room when suddenly my arms were being held behind my back. I felt something being held about the size of a thumbnail.
"Don't speak or I'll do it. I'll do it right now." I remained helpless in the clutches of this figure I knew nothing about. Through the doors to the green room I was dragged. The guys were standing in a circle, discussing who knows what.
"I've got him!" The man yelled, then suddenly I was free from his grasps. I turned to see James holding a banana. "What the heck James? you could have blown my head off!" I yelled.
"I needed you to come here without risk of being shot by anyone else." James explained. "Yeah," Will grunted, "we've gotten word that a troop of people from the banana alliance are on their way. We needed to get you out of there as soon as possible. You're going to need this." He tosses a banana into my hands. "For the banana republic!" He shouted.
"For the banana republic!" We all responded. We heard footsteps getting closer and closer.
"Attack!" A girl with short brown hair, tied up in a ponytail chanted. A group of people from the Banana alliance charged through the double doors, bananas in hand. Before we knew it we were all cornered by the people.
"Ha Ha Ha," the girl cackled, "Finally, I have you all here. Don't worry, I won't kill you, yet."The people of the Banana Alliance erupted in laughter at the expense of our misfortune. "So," she said, "This is a warning about what could happen. Now!" One of the foot soldiers takes a banana and shoots Ian in the foot.
"Agggggggh!" Ian screamed in pain. "First an Exact- o- knife and now this?!?!" Lucas panicked.
"It'll be a lot more than that if you don't give us your territory by dawn," she said. She then gathered her troops and left.
"What are we supposed to do?" Jack asked in a scared tone."We can't give up our land, but we can't let lives be lost."
"We prepare for war," I demanded, "We set up ranks and we get ammunition and we'll attack an hour before dawn. I am general of the Banana Republic army. James, you are Major General. Will, you're colonel. Lucas, you are Major. Jack, you're captain. Eric, you're Lieutenant General. Finally, Ian, you are a scout."
"What? Why?"
"Because you're dead meat," Will replied. "Woah, just relax," I told him, "No one will die. For now I need my second in command, Lieutenant General Baseman. We're going to make a plan."
