Chapter 6

Alaska was in her bed, she couldn't sleep, thinking of Robert and the day they spent together. He was funny, gentle, cut. He had a pair of eyes that you could die for, but, at the same time, he was mysterious. He was so upset for that nightmare, he was crying just for a bad dream and she didn't know why. It was strange. The way he fought against that men. It was like he always did it, punching and kicking men all around. He would kill them if she hasn't stopped him.
How could a person be good and dangerous at the same time?
Her phone started ringing. It was 2 a.m.
She looked at the ID: Robert.
"Hey!"
"...Ska.."
He said like he was breathless.
"Rob, what's happening? Where are you?"
"I'm... In front of.... Your... Door."
She got up.
"What? Why didn't you ring the bell?"
"I... Can't... Come here... Please."
She hung up.
What did he mean with 'I can't'?
She started running trough the door.
She opened it finding Robert, on the floor, blood everywhere.
"Robert! Oh my god, what happened?"
She helped him to get up and brought him inside.
She turned on the lights to see his face. He had a black eye, his bottom lip was broke. She looked at his stomach, the shirt was full of blood. She put it up and gasped.
He was stabbed.
"Rob, we have to go to the hospital."
"No... Please... Don't..."
He whispered.
"We have to. You're losing lots of blood."
"No.... I can't... Let me stay here. Please."
He said with his puppy eyes.
She sighed.
"Okay, but let me take the medical kit."

Alaska brought Robert on her bed after she medicated him. For all the time they didn't speak. He just looked at her while she medicated him. After he put off his shirt, she noticed that he had a lot of colored tattoos, but she didn't ask him anything.
"I always think that you should go to the hospital. I'm not a doctor."
"Nah, you did good. Trust me."
"You wanna go on the balcony? It's 5 a.m.."
"Yeah, I have no sleep."
"Me too."
Alaska helped Rob to get up, walked him outside and put him on a chair,
"Thank you."
He said lighting a cigarette.
"No prob. You aren't so heavy."
She said doing the same.
"Not for this, I meant, thank you for... Well, everything."
"Like I said, no problem."
Both of then took a poof of their cigarette and the silence came.
"Rob."
"Mhm?"
"What happened?"
He sighed.
"They were in ten against me and... Well, I was walking to my car to going home, they came from behind. I didn't notice them, usually I did, but this time... I don't know, I was overthinking and I didn't hear them. They started punching and kicking me, one of them stabbed me and then... There was a loud noise and they run away and I came to your house."
He couldn't say to her that he was thinking about her and the day they spent together. It would mean give the fault to her.
"But.... Who were them?"
"The boys of the other night, with other friends, obviously."
She gasped.
"Rob, I'm sorry. It's all my fault."
Her eyes were filled with tears.
"No, no. Hey. It's not your fault."
"They hurt you because of me!"
"No. They hurt me because I hurt them. It's different."
She giggled a bit.
Suddenly, the dawn came through the horizon letting them speechless.
After the sun came up they looked at each other eyes.
"It's good that I didn't sleep tonight."
She looked at him with a confused face.
"The nightmare of the other night... It wasn't just that kind of nightmare that you have sometimes. I dreamt the same every night and every night I can't sleep."
In that moment she understood how complicated he was, maybe he was telling the truth when he said that he was not a good person. He wasn't like the other guys. Maybe she should stay away from him, but she couldn't and she didn't know why.
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Maybe one day... I told you, I'm not a good person."
"I know..."
"And why don't you run away like everyone?"
"I... I don't know... I can't... I just.. Don't want to."
He nodded.
"The first person who knows me and doesn't want to go away... Not bad..."
"So am I passed the test?"
He laughed.
"Yeah! Definitely!"

"Have you seen Robert these days?"
"Nope. We text sometimes.." She didn't say to Anne what happened some nights ago. It was a difficult situation and Anne wouldn't understand. "You? Do you like someone?"
"I like a guy, but he don't notice me, soo..."
"How could someone not notice you An?"
"I think that he likes someone else."
"I'm sorry..."
" Don't worry, there are billion and billion of boys in the world."
"Yeah!"
"I go to the washroom, I'll be back in a minute."
Alaska's phone lighted up. A message from Robert.

Robert: wanna hear a joke?

Alaska: sure...?

Robert: what do they call can in Mexico?

Alaska: I don't know..

Robert: Mexicans.

Alaska: .... Robert.

Robert: shht! I have more!

Alaska: oh god,

Robert: what did the three say to the wind?

Alaska: what?

Robert: leaf me alone!

Alaska: Robert... Stop.

Robert: what did jay- z call his girlfriend before they got married?

Alaska: don't tell me...

Robert: feyonce!

Alaska: omfg! You're so stupid!

Robert: noppppe! I'm funny! That's different!

Robert: what do you say when you see three whales?

Alaska: ...

Robert: whale, whale, whale! What do we have here?

Alaska: okay, this was good. One point to you.

Robert: yay! What are you doing?

Alaska: drinking a coffee whit An, you?

Robert: what do you call a sad coffee?

Alaska: here we go again!

Robert: a depreso! :D

Alaska: Robert, stop. Please.

Robert: what did the buffalo say to his son when he left for college?

Alaska: I don't know, Downey.

Robert: Bison. :DDDDDDDD

Alaska: stop.

Robert: okay, the last one!

Alaska: oh god.

Robert: what do you call a man with no body and just a nose?

Alaska: dunno.

Robert: nobody nose. :DDDDDDD Okay, I'm done.

Alaska: god, thank you!

Robert: oh c'mon! They're funny!

Alaska: mh...

Robert: they were funny! You just don't want to admit that I'm funnier than you.

Alaska: sure Robert...

Robert: hater!

"What are you laughing at?"
An asked when she came from the washroom.
In reality she was laughing at every joke he made.
"Robert and his stupid jokes."
"Hey! They're not stupid! You were laughing, I saw you little girl!"
A deep voice said behind her.
