"Dear Ladybug, I feel like I know everything about you and you know hardly anything about me. Here's a hint: my name starts with a capital letter. From Car Noir"
Adrien laughs as Marinette reads him the latest message in an irritated voice. He's in his small kitchenette, pouring himself a glass of milk. "He thinks he's funny." Marinette starts pacing the short length of his room.
"He is a bit," Adrien points out. "That's pretty witty."
Marinette flops onto his bed and rolls her eyes, folding the paper over her stomach. "It sounds like something you would say."
Adrien laughs, a rapid, nervous bubbling of laugher. "Right. Funny," he manages, ducking his head into his Apple Jacks.
"Hey," Marinette starts, in an enlightened voice—and Adrien thinks this is it, she knows, finally. "Think it could be any of your friends? Nino? Or, uh, that one guy? With the hair?"
"Kim," Adrien answers in a flat voice, blushing slightly. Kim and Marinette have met twice—and she thinks it's him over Adrien.
"Kim." Marinette shifts onto her stomach, placing the letter on the compact nightstand. "I don't know. Seems unlikely."
"Anyone who seems more likely?" Adrien questions, pretending to be interested in the back of the box of cereal.
"Well, Cat Noir isn't giving me all that much to work with," she decides. "I mean, what? All I know is he goes to this school, and his name starts with a capital letter. Doesn't exactly narrow down results."
Adrien hums noncommittally, his heart squeezing in his chest because now he has an ultimatum: give away more in his short sentiments, or continue the simple, sweet ones he uses.
He slurps milk from his glass in the way he knows Marinette hates. She sends him a pointed glare and he smiles winningly at her, but the grin falls when Marinette purses her lips and looks away.
If Adrien hates one thing in this world, it's when Marinette is upset.
"Hey," Adrien says, shoving the cereal box aside. "Why do seagulls fly over the sea?"
Marinette blinks. "Uh—I don't know? To get their food?"
"If they flew over bays then they'd be bagels." Marinette doesn't laugh instead she blinks, sighs, and shakes her head at him and that's how he knows he she's feeling better.
