We entered the café and the smell of food and the sound of good music filled the Cafè. I smiled.
"Lord knows how much I missed this place." I said to Sandra.
"Wow this place is amazing!" she said taking a look at the place.
The place was packed as it was peek hour and everybody was ordering their food.
I helped design this place when Bruno was just about to open the shop. My dad had just left us and to get things off my mind, Bruno brought me to the building and I helped him design a colour scheme. We were just learning about the rainbow at school so I really wanted it to have the colours of the rainbow in the café.
Bruno also wanted to have his Spanish roots in his café so he decided that all the deserts were gonna be Spanish deserts and the other food would have American influence. Bruno and I loved listening to music whenever we were together and there was never a day that we didn't listen to Michael Jackson, whoo, now those were some good memories! So we decided to put the King of Pop himself on the wall of the cafè with the rainbow colour scheme behind him.
5 years after the café opened, Bruno wanted to add an extra factor to set his café apart from the others so he decided to make a stage where people could perform their favourite songs, just like karaoke. He placed shelves upon shelves of records that you could choose from and perform to. Now his café is the most popular in Redwood.
Bruno played the father figure in my life while and I could always go to him when things were wrong. Oh, did I forget to say that Bruno dated my mom before Zach even entered the equation?
Yeah that's why my mom didn't have a problem with me spending so much time with Bruno. She trusted him.
She needed it too. She was going through a lot.
This place just brought good memories. I couldn't help but smile.
"Ayy Bruno!" I yelled.
"It can't be! Zach! It's been such a long time!" He said running to me. He gave me a bear and I immediately gave out a cry of pain.
"Ouch!" I yelled while holding my stomach.
He lifted up my sleeve and his eyes widened.
"¡Oh Dios Mío Zach! ¿Qué te ha pasado?(Oh my goodness Zach! What happened?)"
He touched it and I winced in pain.
"It's fine Bruno. I went to a doctor. It's just a little bit painful."I said.
"If you say so mijo." He then caught a glimpse of Les behind me and he smiled.
"¿Quién es esta hermosa chica que trajiste a mi cafè? ¿Tu novia (Who's this beautiful girl that you have brought into my cafè? Your girlfriend?)" he said with sneaky smile followed by a laugh.
I couldn't help but laugh.
"Ojalá pero no. Esta es mi amiga Sandra. Hoy es su cumpleanõs, así que hagámoslo espesial, ¿eh? (I wish but no. This is my friend Sandra. Today's her birthday so let's make it special, hey?)"
"Happy birthday," he said shaking her hand ",seeing as this is your first time, we're going to make it extra special. Your birthday experience is gonna be great!"
Sandra smiled back at him.
"Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I can't wait."
"Your food will be made by the best of the best." He said with such enthusiasm. I've always live Bruno's energy levels. They just make up my day.
