How Many?

Chapter 3

It was finally time for my 20 week ultrasound and I was huge. I didn’t think that one baby was in there. Niall was coming with me this time. I couldn’t tell if he was excited or nervous. The doctor came in and started my ultrasound. “Okay Mr. and Mrs. Horan. There are your babies.” It took me a second to realize what she said. “What a second. Did you just say babies?” I asked her shocked. “Yes. I see 4 babies. Congratulations, you’re expecting quadruplets.” My mouth dropped to the floor as I turned my head to face Niall. He looked just as shocked as I did.  What were we gonna do? We were only expecting to have one baby. Not four. We’d have to get a big house and fast. “Would you like to find out the sexes?” “Of course we would.” I said. “Well it appears that you’re having 2 of each. A is a girl, B and C are boys and D is a girl. Congratulations again you two.” Niall still hasn’t said anything and it made me nervous. Niall was silent the entire way home. Was he regretting getting me pregnant? Did he not want these babies? Once we got inside, I ran to our room and started crying. Niall quickly followed and layed down on the bed next to me and pulled me into his arms. “What’s wrong princess?” “You don’t want these babies.” I cried out to him. “What makes you think that love?” “Because you didn’t seem interested in the ultrasound and you didn’t say anything when she told us the genders.” “Honey please calm down. Of course I want these babies. I just wasn’t expecting her to tell us that there are 4. I’m gonna have 3 princesses to spoil now! And two little princes to help me deal with the estrogen.” That made me smile. “Wow Niall! Thank you for reassuring me. Now we have to think of names.” I took out my laptop and started searching for names. I searched for girl names first since Baby A was a girl. “How about Ainsley as a name for Baby A? Ainsley Lyric Horan.” “I love it princess!” I loved his enthusiasm. I handed him the baby book and told him he could pick the boys names. “Hey love? How about Bryson for Baby B?” “I love it baby! How about Bryson James Horan?” “I love it princess.” He looked in the book for Baby C’s name. It took him a little while because he wanted to find the perfect name. After about 10 minutes he found it! “I got the perfect name babe. I want to name Baby C Carter Liam Horan.” “It is definitely the perfect name!” We now had one more baby to name. Baby D was the last one to be named. I flipped through the girl section and found the name Jaelyn. “What about Jaelyn, for our little girl?” “I love it princess!” “I really love Jaelyn Melody Horan.” “Well then that’s her name. We have successfully named our babies with no arguments.” We skyped his parents and they were thrilled to hear that we were expecting. They were shocked at first when we said there were four but they were excited. We had already released a statement announcing the pregnancy and some were excited but some were not. I was getting some hate regarding the pregnancy. I’ve learned to ignore them and it makes my life easier.
