Chapter 22

Forbidden Place
- a history no one talked about.

The sounds of dried leaves rustling and damp grass mushing underneath our thick soles were mixed with the echoing barks of the dogs. Determined and fierce, their sharped senses paired with their unbeatable speed made my anxiety level shoot up the rooftop. My fear for loud ear screeching noises were not helping, all it did was to heighten the fear in me.

Jungkook clutched my hand tightly as the three of us sprinted for our life line. I wanted to get done and over with the running and skip to the dying part.

I was gasping for air and legs were starting to cramp and slow me down.

Jungkook noticed the decrease in the speed I was running at. He eyed me and I could feel my heart pulsating from underneath my thin silk dress.

The further we speed further into the forest, it became more dense with tall trees until we hardly could see the chasers. We continued to run for our lives because we were not too sure if they had really lost us. Having Jungkook to run with was straining my legs, halfway through the marathon, I had to abandon my shoes and bid a farewell.

Not long after, the guy whose name was Jimin I assumed, ran towards a curb to his left. The two of us, sweaty and heavy breathing Jungkook who had his hand in mine, continued to trail behind.

After continuing to run deeper to the unknown, Jimin started to take smaller strides which was slowing us down and allowed me to catch up with the pace we were all running at.

I most probably looked like a mess. But a hot mess.

If I was a hot mess, Jungkook would look like a sexy beast.

I took a peak at the tall man beside me while having my mouth in the 'o' shape, obviously looking horrendous, man... I never thought someone could look THAT amazing while sweat droplets fell from his brown hair locks.

Moreover, I was a sucker for men with a great physique. His wide shoulder frame was in contrast to his slim waist. The clothing material of his outfit fits nicely for such heaven made creation. Perfect.

We arrived at a small shed. Mimicking a house but a smaller version.

When Jungkook lunged forward to open the door with a key he had in his hands, the door hinged was rusty and dry, calling out for a new change or maybe some oil. It was creaky as hell.

The interior of the shed was dusty, as if left untouched for months or maybe years. It had not much furniture nor any lighting fixtures. A sofa and a table was all the shed had; covered in dust.

Jungkook and Jimin dropped onto the floor in a flash as they calmed themselves from the marathon earlier, leaving me to stand on my feet. I was relieved that the run was over but the shed continued to leave my heart racing, it was eerie and mysteriously dark for some reason.

It was completely empty and stagnant.

However, that was where I was wrong. In the complete darkness, somewhere in the corner, there laid a reflective surface of what seemed like a protective layer of an object. The moonlight allowed my eyes to capture the object.

Curiosity got the best of me. I took a couple of steps towards the corner and crouched down towards the rectangular frame. There it is, a picture frame in my hands.

The picture was old but I could still make out the details of it.

There seemed to be 2 people in the picture, with the small shed in the background. They were smiling with their teeth shown, happiness were written all over their faces. It was only at that moment when I took a closer look on their faces and realized how familiar one of the person was.
