"Over the weekend, please make sure to get a head start on looking over and memorizing the script." Ms. Green instructed.
A few minutes later, the bell rang throughout the school. The students packed up their materials and left the class, on their way to their next period of the day. However, Marciline and Spencer stayed behind, both simultaneously walking up to their teacher with trepidation.
Ms. Green seemed to notice this, and raised her head in acknowledgement. "Marciline. Spencer. What's up?"
Marciline spoke up. "Do Romeo and Juliet kiss in the play? You know, considering it's a romantic play."
"Well, yes," Ms. Green explained. "Since you two are seniors, I expect you two to handle this with full maturity. If not, I can assign the role to two other promising students."
The two girls' faces flushed. They exchanged a quick side glance before turning their attention to the floor, looking at anything but each other.
"No, I'm okay," Marciline finally spoke up.
Spencer joined in. "Yeah, that's fine, Ms. Green. We were just wondering."
Marciline didn't mind kissing Spencer. Sure, she was stuck-up and reprimanding, but it's not as if this was her first kiss. She had been in a few relationships herself. I wonder if Spencer has had her first kiss.
"Good. Now that it's settled, please hurry to class. I will write you two slips." Miss Green continued, pulling out two small pieces of paper.
Marciline went home that day and immediately went to her room to look over the script. She felt as if her stomach was doing somersaults. The idea of kissing Spencer made her heart jump. Why do I feel so weird?
Her thoughts were cut off by a ping from her phone. Curious, she opened it to find a text message from Shiloh.

On Monday morning, Marciline arrived to school, listening to music. She nodded her head to the beat, a small smile on her face. Looking around the quad, Marciline searched for Spencer. Soon enough, her eyes landed in the ravenette; She was talking to her friend with a lively expression, slightly laughing as she talked. Marciline felt her heart jump once again. Exhaling slowly, she closed her eyes, shook her head, and continued on her way. Why do I feel this way?
In theater class, Marciline and Spencer rehearse the beginning of the play together.
In the middle of the line, Spencer stopped. "I saw you looking at me in the quad today."
"Oh, yeah," Marciline fumbled. "Uh, I wanted to talk to you about the script, but I figured I could just talk to you about it here."
Spencer squinted her eyes, but dismissed the comment. "Okay, I guess."
After a few seconds of silence, Mariciline spoke up, internally cursing herself for what she was about to say. "You, uh, you looked pretty today. I-I mean, you still do, I'm just uh, saying."
Spencer's head lifted, her eyes wide. Her ears turned pink, and turned her head away from the blonde. Her lips quirked upwards, almost as if she was trying to hide a smile. She exhaled sharply before turning to Marciline, her expression now calm.
"Thank you," Spencer said, quickly returning back to the script.
Marciline nodded, trying to refocus. However, she couldn't help but flick her eyes to Spencer every once in a while, a blush spread across her cheeks.
