Most Khalinynes accept that they belong to a clan when they are first told what they are. It's a comfort, to know that they are not alone in what they are, and the impact that it has on their lives.
Then there are the rare few that decide that they are better off on their own.
Most clans do not allow this and will perhaps attempt to bring the rogue Khalinyne under their wing by force.
But that is considered unnatural and a rare occurrence. Sometimes, these Khalinynes later accept the clan's invitation, after waiting for a purpose for their unique talents. Some do not.
