Zariah
"Miaaaa" I whined. She looked down at the pills in her hand before looking back at me. She took the pills then drank some water. She didn't look okay, she was pale.
"Are you okay?" I asked, inspecting her face.
"I'm good. I just have a headache." She mumbled. She closed her eye and I moved closer to her incase her body gave out.
"What are you pmsing again?"
Mia's PMS symptoms were worse than her symptoms when she's on her period. Her mood swings are outrageous. She turns into a clingy little baby who has a bad attitude.
She simply shook her. I laughed because you never know.
Mia and I made our way to the therapy room since our appointment was set for today. Initially I didn't want to attend because I couldn't stand to look at Mia but now that things are back to normal, it isn't that bad.
We took a seat in front of Doctor Brook. She had a piece of paper and a pen and a sress ball on her desk. I've never used the stress ball. Her eyes met mine, "It's good to see you again."
I remained silent as I sat back in my seat. "Has anything changed since the last time I saw you Zariah?"
"Yes were on good terms now." I said and a smile crept on her face. She looked to Mia
"And how are you feeling today Mia?"
"I'm alright, just have a headache."
"Have you told the nurses?" Brook questioned.
"Not yet but I will tell them after the session."
"Alright. So Zariah did you talk to Mia about what we spoke about?" I shook my head because there wasn't a need to.
"And why is that?" She asked and picked up her pen.
"We sorted things out."
"Would you like she share what we spoke about?" She asked then looked to Mia. I looked at Mia then back at her. "No, not really." I blandly replied.
"Mia would you like to know what it is that we spoke about in our last session?" She asked Mia but she just closed her eyes. My heart beat quickened having a clue of what was happening. Mia has a mental disorder called dissociative identity disorder. She has an alter ego called Jordan who is quite the opposite of Mia. Her personality is more hostile and mischievous.
Doctor Brook and I just stared at Mia. Waiting for what's to happen next because Jordan is unpredictable. The only reason why Jordan is able to take over is because the psychiatrist is still trying to find the correct dosage and medication to give to Mia in ordee to help her with her condition. It's a trial and error procedure.
Jordan opened her eyes then looked at me then to Doctor Brook. Jordan and I have not really been friends, just acquaintances but she's very fond of Charison before Mia was put in here.
"You've got to be kidding me." She groaned. Sometimes when she comes out she's at a place she hates, i.e, here.
"Welcome Jordan. It's always a pleasure to have you join us." Doctor Brook smiled at her. Doctor Brook loves Jordan despite the chaos she brings. A lot of the nurses have gotten to know her and none of them treated her differently. They treated her like a person with their own personality even though she resided with Mia.
Jordan rolled her eyes then looked at me. "Sorry doc, but may you please give us a second." She asked while pointed at herself and me. I didn't want to talk to her and I silently prayed that Doctor Brook would decline her request.
"Five minutes." She said then stood up. I groaned because why? Isn't that against the law or something? She closed the door and I looked at Jordan. When Jordan took over you don't see Mia anymore. Jordan has a habit of clenching her teeth with her eyebrows furrowed. She talks in between her teeth which makes her voice deepen a little.
"What do you want now?" I questioned with an attitude.
"Don't talk to me like you have no sense. I'm not Mia." She stated. She grabbed the stress ball and stood up. She started walking around the room; squeezing the stress ball.
"You have no business being here." I said to her.
"And you have no business talking to me so shut up." She replied. I sighed because Jordan has a way of annoying me. Some days I think she hates me and other days I think she tolerates me.
"Just bring Mia back."
"No."
"Fuck you." I spat.
Her eyebrows lifted in surpise but then wash off with rage in her eyes. She threw the stress ball at me and it hit me in the chest which hurt. In retaliation I picked up Brook's picture frame and threw it her but missed and it smashed into the wall. The glass scattered all on the floor.
"You should know that I'm quicker than your dumbass."
I sighed because it's draining dealing with Jordan. "Jordan, no one cares about that. Just bring Mia back, we have issues that we need to solve, so please." I politely asked.
"Fuck! Fine! Shit! You can have her back...your whinning is getting on my nerves."
She closed her eyes and I waited patiently. Mia opened her eyes and her facial muscles relaxed. I always wondered why Jordan is so tense.
"Welcome back." I smiled at her.
"Yeah yeah." She said and took a seat. She looked at the glass pieces on the floor then turned to me. I simply shruged because it was a lot to explain to her but I think she had an idea of what happened. When Jordan takes over Mia said that she can't see or hear or feel anything, almost like she's fallen into a deep sleep.
The door opened and Doctor Brook walked in. She stopped when she saw her picture frame broken on the floor. She picked it up and more glass fell onto the floor and I felt bad.
"I'm sorry for breaking your picture." I said. She smiled. "It's alright, it can always be fixed."
She went back to her seat and placed her broken picture on her desk. We looked at it then Doctor Brook cleared her throat. Deviating our attention from the frame to her. "So, shall we continue where we left off Mia?" Mia smiled and I did too.
