Jade texted me again this afternoon, she didn't write much other than "Come over".

But I should tell you how we first met before I get to that.

I met Jade while I was strolling back home through the dangerous part of town with all the wrecked old houses, usually where all the poor or drugged up families live.

It was then when I heard shouting in a nearby alley way, there was a loud girls voice and maybe two or three older men. Usually I'd try not to get involved because I know the police would arrive at any second or maybe a hero would deal with it.

But this was the sloppy part of town, the part the heroes don't even know about half of the time, so I guess it was up to me to help.

I grabbed my taser from my bag, which I always carry with me in this part of town, and run to the alley.

There she was, a girl beating up two big thug like guys with nothing but her hands, and then one of those hands pushed my taser into me as the other formed a fist and plunged it into my face.

I woke up in a bed, it smelt old and unwashed and squeaked when I breathed. That was when a small girl with blonde hair started to jump on my stomach.

"Ow-ow-ow-ow-stop-please" I begged between her jumps, she didn't seem to listen until a pair of arms grabbed her and lifter her off me.

"Sorry about Artemis, she tends to enjoy annoying people" The girl says, putting Artemis on the ground.

"Where the hell am I?" I ask confused and slightly afraid.

"Well I mistook you for a thug, realised you weren't one and decided to look after you" The girl explained.

"... I don't know if I should thank you or run away" I whispered loudly.

"The name is Jade Nguyen, and if you run without saying thanks then I might have to break your legs" Jade threatened.

I thanked her as to not lose the use of my legs. I told her my name and why I tried to help and she kinda laughed a bit, saying that she can protect herself.

She gave me her number and we texted and hung out for a couple of years after the incident, her sister Artemis was apparently doing very well in her archery classes.

And that brings us to today.

I look over her text with worry as she usually leaves full paragraphs with every message and not just a simple "Come over".

The street was as dark and terrifying as always, looking around I saw Jade's house. As I approached it I noticed that someone left the house, I think it was Artemis and Jade's mother.

She walked off, she seemed in a bad mood as she walked past me, not noticing me at all.

I walked through the front door, I saw Jade signaling me to be quiet and to come upstairs, and so I did.

Artemis was asleep in her bed as me and Jade sat on her bed.

"So you wanted me to come over?" I asked, looking into her eyes which seemed darker and more serious than usual.

"Yes... I've decided that I want to leave home, my mother can't get enough pay to look after me and Artemis so I'm going to run off and look after myself" She explained, looking over to her sleeping sister.

I give her the classic "are you serious?" look.

"Look Jade, we've hung out for awhile and you've shown me that you can protect yourself but there are people out there who are stronger than you" I tried to deter her from her idea.

She grabbed my shirt and yanked my face towards her's, planting a soft meaningful kiss on me, then pushing me away.

"I'll be fine Y/n" She promised, grabbing a bag out from under her bed.

"Wait... you're leaving now?! What about your sister?" I whisper yelled at her.

Jade stood on the window frame in silence.

"Goodbye" Jade finalized, jumping out of the window and running off into the night time.

There was a sniffle beside me as I looked out the window.

"She left didn't she" Artemis asked, unmoving.

"...yes" I replied, sitting on Artemis's bed and them rubbing her shoulder.

I patted her shoulder as I got up, telling her that I'd get her sister back home, even if it cost me my life.

After a couple of weeks of excessive searching and an embarrassingly large amount of texts sent to Jade, I finally got a reply.

"I don't know who you are but I just got this new number, and you probably still have the old contact" The message read.

Great, she changed her number, I should of expected this from her. I pulled up the heroes and villains blog which contained all the leaks, stories and theories on the internet.

I was tipped off by Artemis that her sister might of been doing illegal acts to get by, which I wouldn't doubt, but I still love Jade anyway so I know she's doing it for her own health.

There are no articles about Jade, Jade Nguyen or just Nguyen. I didn't know how I could find her until I thought about her interests, such as Alice in Wonderland.

"Alice" Nothing.

"Mad-Hatter" Something but not her.

"Cheshire Cat" One result, and it had only a cat mask in the photo.

I looked over the article and found out that most of the time she's been spotted in a tall abandoned parking building in Gotham, guess I'm going on a trip.

After a couple of hours of driving I finally arrived in Gotham, the city known for crime.

The parking building was taller than I expected but I did notice a glowing bright light coming from the final level.

I walked up what felt like hundreds of ramps before seeing the light coming from the end of the final ramp.

There she was, Jade Nguyen, minimally dressed.

I quickly looked away and hid behind a wall, but it was too late, she saw me.

"Y/n. Over here. Now" She demanded, I nervously walked over to her making sure to only look directly into her eyes and not her underwear.

"Why are you... ya know" I tried to ask.

"I was getting dressed, my suit got cut up by Batman after I stole some jewelry. How did you find me?" She asked, putting on some more casual clothes as I looked at the little home she made for herself.

"The hero and villain blog. Naming yourself after a poster in your room seems kinda obvious" I explained.

"Come over here, right in front of me" Jade demanded.

I walk back over to her again, and then she punched me across the jaw.

"Ow! What was that fo-" I was about to question before her lips silenced me, she wrapped her arms around my back as my brain seemingly shut off.

Jade pulled back from the kiss.

"The first thing was for tracking me down, the second was for finding me. And this-" She said.

"-is because I love you" she added, pushing me onto a bed and snuggling me.

"Wow, I thought you were all serious and no soft" I teased.

"Oh shut up" Jade replied, kissing my cheek.
