"I love you K, please remember that" Alex said through tears while I look around confused. Sure I was 10 years old at the time and she was 21 but I didn't understand the big deal. My parents were fighting again. They always did but Lex was always there for me... Until she went to college. I pushed her away but she pushed me away first.

"Why are you telling me this Lex? are you going away again? I promise I'm not mad anymore" I was sick of her begging for forgiveness when she had to go back to college. I was a big kid. Two digits. 10. That's what my mom told me when my birthday came earlier that year.

"You are going to Canada, K. Dad and Mom are getting divorced. I want you to know I'm gonna miss you and visit you whenever I can I promise you K" tears were spilling from her eyes and that's when it hit me.

"You are letting them take me? You don't want me anymore... do you Lex? I promise I'm gonna be good and I won't take your jersey's anymore!!" I wanted to hold her and never let go and now I realized she wanted just the same " Please Lex don't leave me" I was sobbing by now, my fragile heart was beating faster than ever and I'm sure Alex was worried about my asthma problems and how worked up I was over the news.

" I would never leave you alone little K but I have college, I have to go back to Berkley soon and I can't take you... Promise me you are gonna be strong for me K? Please? You are gonna be with Mom. You love mom don't you? Everything is gonna be just fine K. Trust me. I love you K."

"I love you Lex" I said still crying holding her for dear life.

The next week I was waving at my sisters and my father while me and my mother walk through the doors of the airport.

I didn't let go of Alex the whole week prior. I was like a baby Koala. She told me I was her baby Koala.

Mom said Canada was fun. Alex said they had good soccer programs. But I didn't have my best friend. And I was a shy, emotional and silly kid.
