Alex's POVI ran through the hospital doors and saw Kelley trying to cheer up my mom.
"KELLEY" I yelled. My friend looked up and the tiredness in her face was evident, I couldn't help but hug her while my girlfriend switch places with my friend to console my mother.
"They are not answering our questions Lex. I'm afraid what if she wasn't breathing when we got here?" Worry was written all over her face and that scared me, my little sister meant everything to me and Kel was always serious when it came to Karla, she loves her too.
We sleep in the E.R sending my mom with Tobin to the house, to get some sleep and recover from the night before. Kelley and my mom had a COVID-19 test because they were with Karla and surprisingly they were both negative so we were out of the hook in that field. They didn't gave us any updates on my sister and it was starting to get annoying for everyone. I was growing irritated every minute.
Later on, a freckled girl passed the hospital entrance with a face that said million of things and none of them were any good.
"Jessie!" I whisper yelled to my sister's girlfriend, she looked like she didn't sleep and her eyes were red and dry from the crying.
"Alex, how is she? can we see her? I knew I shouldn't have let her go and I still did, everything is my fault. But you were there you know how persistent she can be, I tried to say no I really did" She rambled blaming herself and taking all the fault. We were in the same ship, we knew she was vulnerable and the times were not ideal for her to travel from country to country but we still decided she could go if she was "careful enough", and now we are here. Her life has been so messed up these last couple of years, every time that it seems like she's been herself again, something new happen that ruins everything even more than the last time.
"She's an adult Jess, we can't prohibit her from doing whatever she wants she would have traveled anyway don't blame this on you, no one could have prevent it" I said trying to get it in the younger girls head and knowing it wasn't enough, they were in love and the airport or separation was something they hated and couldn't stand for long periods of time anymore.
"Family of Karla Morgan" A doctor say looking as serious as ever.
Jessie's POV
I was dying on the inside thinking of the last time I hug her, hold her hand, brush her hair or give her kisses all over her face, I couldn't remember or focus on any of it and it was driving me crazy.
I'm physically and emotionally exhausted. Constantly missing her seems like the only available option at the moment. Alex tries to reassure me that we didn't do anything wrong and no one could have prevent it, but she doesn't know that, I could have stop this and right now she'd be here with me.
"Family of Karla Morgan" A doctor said while looking at us with an unreadable facial expression. I didn't like one little bit.
"I'm so sorry. We did everything we could do" I start shaking my head in disbelief, she was 20.
We were supposed to buy a house, play soccer, she was going to her first World Cup, what about the Olympics after that?, we talked about children, we promised each other to travel the world together. It couldn't be possible.
"That can't be true, she's 20 and- and we got so many plans. She's gonna be okay, she has to, ALEX TELL THEM" I failed her. What do I do now?
"Come here Fleming" Kelley said hugging me tight and trying to calm me down. What the fuck?
"Girls I think you misunderstood me. She's in critical condition and in the COVID wing, we don't know if she's gonna survive but you can't see her and we don't really know if you are gonna be available at some point" The doctor let out in a pretty serious voice giving us hope but at the same time trying to prepare us for the worst
