I look in the mirror at my hair to make sure I haven't missed any spots while straightening it. I can't believe I'm going on an actual date. I then remembered that I still had to tell Andrea about how I was going out to dinner with her cousin.

I quickly grabbed a pair of black heels from my closet and put them on. I then swung my purse over my shoulder and walked out the door. In the kitchen stood Kyle and a couple of his friends in that I recognized. They were on the football team.

Andrea was sat on the sofa, surfing through channels on tv.
"What do you think?" I asked, revealing my outfit to her.
"Oh gurl, you look fantastic! What's the occasion?" She got up and faced me, putting my hands in hers.

"Please don't be upset or anything." I warned her.
"You would have to do something really bad to make me upset." She said smiling. "What is it?" She asked.
"I'm going on a date with Gabe." I admitted.
"Oh my gosh, that is so exciting. Why would I be upset about that?"
"I don't know, maybe because he's your cousin?"
"No, I'm happy for you." She smiled.

"Gabe? That guy that I'm better than?" Kyle, who was apparently listening to our conversation, said.
"Yes and no." I said. "You're not better than anyone." I crossed my arms but smiled at him.
"You little.." Kyle ran over throwing me onto the sofa, tickling me.

There was a knock at the door and I hopped up, assuming it was Gabe. Kyle's friends did not look amused that he was over with us and not them.
I opened the door to Gabe, with flowers.
"For you." He said.
"Awe, what a gentleman." Andrea could be heard in the distance.
"Thanks." I said.
"Wow, I could pick out way better flowers than those." Kyle attempted to brag.

"Ready?" I asked.
"Yeah let's go." He said.
I shut the door behind us.
"Don't mind Kyle, he's always competing to be 'the best'."
"You look stunning." He complemented.

We got in his car and he drove us to this restaurant. Once we arrived, we sat at a booth because who doesn't love booths. A waitress greeted us and asked what we would like. Gabe ordered these buffalo wings that look so good on the menu, but I just stuck to the salad.

We tried to get to know each other by asking questions.
"If you could go anywhere, where would you go?" He asked.
"Probably Neptune. It's my favourite planet. I even named my dog at my parents house Neptune. I miss Neptune." I said, thinking of when I lived with my parents.
"Neptune is a cool planet." He winked.

The questions went on until our food came. We ate pretty quickly. When we got our bill, I offered to pay but Gabe refused.
"I took you to dinner, it's only fair that I pay."
"Fine, but I'm paying next time." I said.
"There will be a next time?" He smirked.
"Maybe..." I teased.

We walked out and sat in his car. He looked over at me.
"You know what would be fun?" He asked.
"What's that?" I asked him.
"Did you want to go to the park?"
"Why? It's 10:40 in the night."
"Because there are no kids there and we could play on the playground. The swing sounds fun."

I thought about it for a minute before nodding my head. Once we got there he jumped out.
"Race you to the swings!" He yelled running.
"Hey, no fair." I said, running behind him.

He charged for the swings and hoped on the one in the left. I slowed down my pace and sat on the one next to him.
"I haven't been to the playground in years." I confessed feeling like a child again.
"Me either, I used to come here with my friends at this hour. My mother used to be pissed though." He chuckled.
"How old were you?" I asked.
"I was 14. Sometimes my friends would bring girls. I remember one that I liked in particular. It was clear that she liked me back but I didn't know at the time. We would swing together, she would swing on the one you are now." He said.
"Oh... wow." Was all I could say.
"One day she stopped coming because her parents would get really mad. That was the last time I saw her."
"That's really sad... I guess." I spoke to break the silence.
"Hey, I used to do this to her all of the time." He said hopping off of the swing, coming behind mine.

"Uh what are you doing?" I asked.
"What I used to do."
He started to push my swing in the air. I giggled which made him chuckle.
"You ready?" He asked grabbing both sides of the swing seat.
"For what?" I asked.
"You'll see."
"I guess." I answered.

He pulled my swing back as far as he could, then ran, still pushing the swing. He then pushed the swing over his head, running underneath, sending me up.
"Gabe!" I yelled as he pushed my upwards.
I giggled at how high I was in the sky. As the swing went backwards, I had all sorts of butterflies.
Gabe watched with his arms crossed, laughing because I screamed his name.

After that we grabbed ice cream and he drove me back home.
"Heyy." Andrea said pulling me into a hug. "How was it?" She asked looking at me and Gabe.

"It was great, I haven't had this much fun in my life." I said.
"Yeah, Gabe is a special one." Andrea said messing up his hair.

"Oh come on, it wasn't that fun." Kyle emerged from the kitchen.
"Uh yeah it was." I fought back.
"This guy ain't even that cool." Kyle shoved Gabe.
"Do you have a problem?" Said Gabe.
"Yeah, you going on dates with my girl." Kyle said wrapping his arm around me.
"I'm not your girl." I pushed him off.

"I'll text you later." Gabe winked and walked out.
"What the hell I'd your problem?!" I screamed at him.
"I'm trying to protect you." He yelled back.
"You treat me like shit when I agree to be with you, but the second I move on you get really fucking jealous. Move out of my way." I scream.
"Guys, please don't argue." Andrea said, trying to keep the peace.

Kyle grabbed my waist and pulled my close. I shove him into the wall and show him that I'm not just one of his girls. "Don't you fucking touch me!"

I stomp to my room and shut the door.

I sit on my bed and think about the awesome night I had with Gabe. He was so kind and sweet.

20 minutes later I hear my phone buzz. I look at it to see that Gabe had texted, like he said he would.

"Hey cutie, just wanted to say goodnight."

"Goodnight, Gabe. Thanks for the fun night."

"You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it."

I turn off my phone and set it next to me. All the thoughts of Kyle washed away, and new thoughts of Gabe replaced them.

Someone knocked on my door very softly.

"Come in." I called.
The door slowly opened and Andrea poked her head in.
"Hey, are you okay? I want to give you some time before I checked on you. Kyle shouldn't have grabbed you like that." Andrea closed the door behind her.
"Yeah I'm fine." I tell her.

"I yelled at him, I told him not to do that." She said.
"You got mad at him? You're like never mad." I looked shocked.
"I know, but it's so annoying how he's always trying to control you." She looked down. "On a happier note, how was your date with Gabe?" She smiled.
"It was so much fun. After we ate, he took me to a playground." I giggled.
"That sounds like Gabe." She told me.

"Well, I must go to sleep." Andrea stood up and hugged me.

She started walking for the door.
"Wait." I said.
She turned around. "What?" She asked.
"D-did you maybe want to sleep in my bed tonight?" I stuttered. "It doesn't have to mean anything, I could use the company." I continued.

Andrea smiled at me. "Sure, let me just change into comfier clothes." She walked into her room.

I changed into shorts and a t-shirt.
Andrea came back and crawled into the bed with me.
"Good night." I said.
"Goodnight." Andrea whispered.
