The Path to the Wizard King

-~ Akemi's Pov~-

After a couple of other matches, Yuno and his partner went in. "D-Do your b-best Yuno," I said to him. Yuno looks at me smiling and nods. I heard people whispering about Yuno's partner being a Noble his name was Salim. They started fighting and Yuno won. Everyone started mumbling about how Yuno won. 

Yuno walked back to me and Asta. "Y-You were a-amazing Yuno," I said smiling. "Thanks." He says and hugs me. I blushed and looked up to him. "U-Um... Y-Yuno why a-are you h-hugging me?" I asked confused. Yuno pulls away and pats my head. "The reason why I hugged you is obvious." He says. I tilt my head to the side confused. Then Asta pushed Yuno away. "What the heck Yuno! Akemi-Chan is mine!" He says. "Since when?" Yuno asked. I got in between them making them stop. "G-Guys please d-don't fight," I said. They nodded and turned away from each other. 

Then me and my Haruto stepped up to fight. The referee signaled us to start fighting. "Flower magic, Roses Pointy Thorns!" Haruto yells out. Big pointy thorns start heading towards me. "M-Master magic, A-Angel Guardians S-Shield," I said. Angel wings covered my body protecting me from Haruto's attack. 

After Haruto's attack stopped the angel wings disappeared. "M-Master magic, W-Water Whip," I say. Then a whip made out of water was in my hand. The whip wrapped around Haruto ankle. The whip started throwing Haruto around. "I GIVE UP!" I heard Haruto yell out. I closed my grimoire making the whip disappear. The medical mages took Haruto away. 

I walked back to Yuno and Asta. "That was amazing Akemi-Chan!" Asta exclaims while Yuno nodded. I send a shy smile towards them. "T-Thanks g-guys," I said fidgeting with my hands. They patted my head and smiled at me. 

(Time Skip) 

"That concludes the exam. When your number is called, please step forward to learn your results." Captain William says. Then Captain Charlotte stood up. "If a captain wants you on his or her squad, they will raise a hand. That means you're in. If you do not wish to join a squad, you may, of course, decline. If you are admitted into more than one squad, it is up to you to decide which you will join." She explains. "However, if no squad wants you, you will not be a Magic Knight." Captain Fuegoleon says. "In which case, you must leave at once." Captain Nozel added. Everyone was nervous because of what Captain Nozel said. 'I hope I passed.'  I thought.  "Examinee number one, step forward." A Staff member says. "Uh, yes, sir!" Examinee one says and steps forward. 

(Time Skip) 

"Next! Number 164." The Staff says. Yuno gripped his necklace and steps forward. "Here." He says firmly. 'Yuno will definitely get in.'  I thought determinedly. "Do we have any hands?" The Staff asked. All the captains started slowly raising their hands. Every one started murmuring about this.  I smiled at Yuno. 'I knew he would get in!'  I thought. Yuno looks up at the captains. "It would be an honor to join the Golden Dawn." He says determinedly. All the examinees gasped. 

Yuno walked back and stood next to me. "Next! Number 165." The Staff says. Asta stepped up and looks up at the captains. 'Asta...'  I thought worriedly. "Do we have any hands?" The Staff asked. None of the captains raised their hands. "Number 165... No hands." The Staff says. 

I covered my mouth in shock. 'No, Asta was supposed to pass.'  I thought. I heard people yelling at Asta to move out of the way. I couldn't bear to watch this. I put my face in Yuno's chest. Yuno patted my head trying to comfort me. "It's no real surprise, is it?" I heard Captain Yami say. I looked up from Yuno's Chest. 

"No matter how great your skill in battle might be, no one wants to touch a power that mysterious. People aren't fond of the unknown." He says. 

Everyone went silent at what he said. "It boils down to this: what the captains are looking for here is magic power. That simple." Captain Yami says. Then Yami was releasing a large mass of mana. I flinched and hid behind Yuno. He then jumps down from the balcony. Captain Yami was glaring harshly at Asta. He starts walking towards Asta and stops right in front of him.
