Hey, back at it again. I know this fic is probably dying, but I'm doing my best. I promise there's a better story here. I just hope my terrible writing doesn't ruin it. Please comment and give feedback on stuff you do or don't like, especially things like characters. I kinda struggle with that. Other than that, here we go, finally some plot development.
                                                              Chapter 4

Hey. it's me. how are you supposed to do these things? um, I guess that's it? I don't really have anything to say. I'm a pretty boring person.
The next day we spent the morning at a waterpark on Fenwick Island. It was pretty nice for a beach town waterpark, and there was plenty of stuff to do. But I mean, it went fast with 15 kids. There's only so many times I can listen to George screaming his head off on the water slides. I considered leaving before the lifeguards got concerned, but the lazy river was enough to distract everyone. After a few hours, everyone wanted to go back to the beach, so the chaperones (sorry, the parents ) were fine with driving loud, wet, teenagers wrapped in towels and hoodies back to Amelia's beach house.
The beach house was basically chaos after we came back. Everyone was trying to find another towel and run out the door before they got left behind. I found a bath towel laying around (it was probably someone else's, so oops) and sprinted out to catch up with the others. I'm always the slow one in these situations. It was actually kind of nice not being with the group for a little bit, so I let them get a little ahead of me until we met up at the boardwalk. It was a little hard to tell everybody apart because they were more like a herd of brightly colored beach towels than humans, but I caught up with my friends Abby, Amelia and George. Abby was overflowing with energy.
"Its so FREAKING nice today, I swear if Winter was here it would be heaven!"
"Winters your horse right?"
"Yeah, she misses me"
"How do you know that?"
"George. Are you suggesting that Winter doesn't love me?"
I joined in sarcastically. "Yeah, George, are you saying winter doesn't love her?" Everyone started laughing. George looked like a combination of 678 and terrified. "Guys. you know I didn't mean that that way--"
"Oh, we definitely didn't know that..." Sometimes George was so nice it was funny. Out of nowhere, Jb popped up to comment,
"George! stop getting caught up in the technicalities!"
George looked "hurt" for a second, then laughed under his breath. " I feel like everyone hates me."
"We still love you, George" Amelia said.
"Guys" I said, " I think George needs  a hug!"
That got him running all the way down the beach. We chased after him, and everyone else followed.
"Race you to the water!!!" yelled Joshua, and everyone followed, throwing their stuff into the sand where we'd left our chairs and umbrellas in the morning to save a spot.

The sun was reflecting off the turquoise water as everyone splashed in. All of the guys except JB and William had dived  all the way into the surf. Abby and the guys went out (with Joshua pulling Abby on a boogie board like a queen of the ocean) as far as they could go without Abby freaking out about sharks, and Julia, Morgan and Sophia were boogie boarding. The water was cold as it swirled around my ankles. Seagulls clawed above, searching for French fries to steal. I splashed up to my knees and felt the current pulling on me. Everyone else was frolicking around, splashing and stuff. I jumped up as a wave crashed and the foamed over my waist. Abby and the guys were swimming out to the buoy, and Julia, Morgan and Sophia were boogie boarding. You know what? I thought, i should just get over it and go under. I waded a little further out and turned to take a breath. Suddenly someone grabbed my collar and shoved me down.
I sucked in a mouthful of water instead of air and tried to get up. I couldn't tell if I was being pulled back or rocked in place. There was darkness everywhere, taking hold of me. I was running out of the short breath of air I had. A wave rolled over me, pushing me down, but I couldn't feel the bottom. I felt the power of the water ... and it felt like I was a ragdoll it wanted dead. There was darkness all around, tossing and turning. I was going to drown...
I felt air and gasped, standing up and wiping my eyes. Sophia was laughing like crazy. "SOPHIA!!!" She and Morgan were giggling. "It was pretty funny!" she countered, and relapsed into laughter. "You like, tried to stand up, and then this huge wave came and knocked you over, and --"
I spit saltwater out. "Well, it wasn't funny." I wasn't about to tell her that the sea wanted to murder me.
She looked guilty. "It was all Morgan's idea!"
Morgan was trying to suppress laughter. "No- sophia, it was her idea!"
I decided to leave it. "Its fine. I'm just... not great with water".
I heard the lifeguards whistle blow and we turned around. The lifeguard jumped off his chair and ran into the water. He had messy black hair and sea green eyes.  Abby and Amelia splashed over with him.
"Is everyone okay?"he asked. I glared at Sophia and she glared back.
Abby put her hand over my shoulder and answered for me. "Yeah! Everyone's fine now, but thanks for asking."
I decided to back her up. "Yeah I'm fine, no worries."
He looked a little suspicious of her answer. Then he looked at Abby. For a split-second he and Abby made direct eye contact. It was more than just eye contact. If he wasn't like 18 and her 14 I would've thought he was into her, but it was a different kind of look. More like he was trying to read her through her eyes. She stared back at him.
The waves were getting to big and close for my liking. Maybe Sophia had me spooked about it. I inched away just to be safe.
"Anyways, if everyone's doing fine, were good. Just remember to --!!!!" The lifeguard jumped up and blew his whistle again and  leapt back into the ocean, swimming off towards where Joshua was jokingly trying to drown Jb. We watched him pull them apart, and Amelia and Abby steered me back toward the umbrella. I couldnt help thinking about the lifeguard. The way he'd looked at Abby was strange,  not to mention how he kept squinting at the waves like he was trying to force them down. I brushed it off. I'm known to be the worrier and over thinker.
