ALIYAH'S POV
*alarm sound*
Napamulat ako ng marinig ang alarm ng cellphone ko. I checked my phone on my night stand – 6:30 AM. Tama lng ang gising ko para sa 8:00 kong klase.
I got up from my bed and went to my room's balcony. Matiim kong tinignan si haring araw.
New day, new beginnings they say, but for me it's still the same. Their never ending orders and expectations continues to pile up.
I blankly stared at the surroundings as I inhaled the fresh scent of morning breeze. It would be nice if everyday would be like this. Napabuga ako ng malalim na hininga at napagpasiyahang pumasok ulit sa kuwarto ko.
Tumungo na ako sa banyo at ginawa ang tawag nilang morning rituals. Mga ilang minuto pa ay natapos na rin ako.
Hindi ko na pinagkaabalahan ang suot ko. Jeans, T-shirt, at Chucks yan ang palagi kong style papunta sa school.
I'm not also a fan of putting cosmetics in my face. Well you could say I'm boyish but pretty sure that I'm straight.
I packed my bag and went down to our dining area.
Habang pababa ako sa hagdan ay nagulat akong makita na andito ang mga magulang ko. They are not usually at home because of our family business.
"Morning Pa, Ma. Akala ko next week pa kayo uuwi?" Nagtataka kong tanong.
They called me yesterday saying they can't comeback till next week since something happened in our 'business stuffs'.
"We finished our work earlier than we expected. Kaya napagdesisyonan namin ng papa mong umuwi muna." Sagot ni mama sa tanong ko.
Tumango lang bilang sagot at umupo na para masimulan ang agahan ko.
I was about to reach the bacon when my father spoke.
"Aliyah, malapit kanang mag-college. I want you to take BS in Business Administration para may sasalo ng kompanya natin. I expect you to become one of us and help us improve our company." My arms got suspended in the air ng marinig ko ang sinabi ni papa. Ng makabawi ako sa gulat ay ibinababa ko ang aking kamay.
"But pa, ayoko ng course na-"
"No buts Aliyah! This is for your own good."
"But pa, ayoko ng-"
"Aliyah! Sundin mo ang gusto ko! Dahil ito ang nakakabuti sa 'yo. And before I forget maintain your grades. Mas magandang tignan ang matataas na grado kesa sa mababa. Finish your food and get going." Tumayo na ito at iniwan kami ni mama.
"Hon, I agree with your father. Choosing this course means you can help us and we will be delighted that someone will continue our business. What can you say hon?" Tanong ni mama habang sumisimsim sa kaniyang kape.
"I'll think about it ma."
"Even if you'll think about, you know you have no choice right? This is for your own good okay?"
Hindi ako kumibo at tumayo na lamang.
"Where are you going? You didn't eat yet."
"I'm not hungry anymore, bye ma."
Tinalikudan ko siya at diretsong pumunta sa garahe.
I opened my car and immediately started it. I want to get away from this house as soon as possible.
Habang nagdadrive ako ay hindi pa rin mawala sa isip ko ang kagustuhan nila para sa akin.
BS Business and Management. Hindi sa ayaw ko ang course na iyan ngunit mas gusto ko maging doktor kesa mamahala ng isang kompanya.
