“Maghihiwalay na raw sila eh” you replied, smiling at your bestfriend chu, who gave you half of her popsicle

“Paano yun? Lilipat na kayo?” she asked, nagkibit balikat ka, you honestly didn't know what will happen and being only 13, you didn't care, you smiled as you saw her diko, Brent, playing basketball with kuya Bryce.

“Paano ba yan? Di mo na makikita si diko” chu teased, nanlaki ang mata mo at pinalo siya sa balikat hoping that no one would hear what she just shared. 

“Kanino mo gusto sumama?” chu asked, ngumiti si tita cindy sayo, giving you a piece of fried chicken. You smiled and thanked her.

“kay papa, pero sabi ni mama, aalis nalang daw kami kasi di daw okay si papa” you answered truthfully, this was chu, your bestfriend since birth and you didn't keep any secrets from her, even when you realized that you liked her brother.

“Malamang kung papapiliin yan, magpapaiwan yan dito.” tito bong joked, kumunot ang noo ni tita cindy and you smiled shyly.

“at bakit? ayaw mo iwan si chu?” tita cindy asked, you smiled and stared at the plate.

“ma! yung chicken leg nawawala!” Brent Paraiso who was fresh from the bath, sat down in front of you and your eyes widened when you saw that you had the chicken leg.

“ay, nasayo pala” he smiled at you, you nodded shyly.

“gusto mo ba? palit nalang tayo.” you offered, umiling siya but he continued to smile at you.

“sayo nalang yan, para hindi ka na mahirapan maghimay” and you swore to yourself that you saw tita and tito look at each other and smile.

“baka gusto mo, diba favorite mo chicken leg?”

“mas joyful nga kumain ng chicken joy pag leg part, pero parang mas need mo yung joy eh” and just like that, you were blushing, as red as the container of the jollibee takeout.

Chu giggled which made you kick her under the table. But you didn't want to assume that Brent likes you. He's older than you, he probably has a lot of prettier girls in La Salle. He smiled at you, and everything was worth it, you didn't want to leave.

“chu, ako pa rin bestfriend mo ah?” you reminded while the both of you were crying, she nodded and hugged you tighter.

“oo, lagi ko hihiramin phone ni mommy tapos pag may landline kayo ichat mo sa akin ha?” chu said, you nodded and closed your eyes.

Kuya Bryce, and Ate Bianca said their goodbyes, nag high five kayo ni Brendan at Bruce.

“mama, wait lang.” you said, kulang pa, hindi pa pwedeng umalis, hindi ka pa nakakapagpaalam kay Brent.

“tara na.” your mom said, but you didn't budge, you prayed for Brent. You close your eyes and counted,
