Chapter 9

Tensor left Esmeralda in the bathroom getting ready then he went downstairs where he found that two of his business associates had already arrived. He hadn't realised that so much time had gone by when he was with Esmeralda. Thinking about her lying on the floor like that and he was scared. He laughed. Tensor Boniface Salvatore was never scared. He conducted business deals worth millions and not once was he scared but inside that room he was.

"How is she?" His mother asked as soon as he got to where they were standing.

"Fine. She is getting ready now. Malcom its so nice to see you again. How was Cuba?" Tensor asked one of his friends who was also his associate.

"Hot but definitely profitable. You know we should talk about expanding our business there Tensor. The export rates are very encouraging."

"We will discuss that in the next meeting." Tensor was speaking when his mother intervened.

"Alright boys. We are not here for business. You have a whole week ahead of you, so tonight we celebrate."

More people had arrived from all over the country. From other countries as well. Millionaires were flowing in as time went by. The media was also there. The world was waiting to see who Tensor Salvatore's bride is. The house was well prepared. The meal prepared by a chef sent from one of Italy's finest hotels. Drinks and conversations were going on around the house and cameras were flashing.

"I must say Tensor, you sure know how to choose." Malcom said.

"What do you mean?" Tensor asked. 

"Your fiance." Malcom replied pointing to the stairs where Esmeralda was coming down. "She is beautiful."

"Yes she is. Excuse Malcom." Tensor went to where Esmeralda was and took her hand. He kissed her full on the lips then told her, "You look beautiful."

"Thank you." She replied with a smile. The same one that always made his insides turn. He led her to the centre of the room and took a glass of wine from one of the waiters then gave it to her.

"To you." He told her then toasted. She looked amazing he thought. So beautiful that no one in the room could out stand her.

"Congratulations my dear. Need i say that you look absolutely dashing Esmeralda." Madelline was at their side having a chat.

"Thank you mother. For everything." Esmeralda replied

Suddenly a woman came through the door. She looked rich Esmeralda thought. And she looked exactly like Tensor with a little girl by her side and a fairly handsome man on the other side.

"Uncle Tensor....." The girl called and ran into Tensor's arms where he carried her up with a big hug

"Hi pumpkin. I missed you." Tensor replied.

"Me too. Is this Esme? She is beautiful. We should spend time together uncle."

"And i thought i wouldn't live to see the day my brother marries." The girl's mother said with a smile.

"Natalie." Tensor hugged his sister and faced the man beside her, "Sergio, its nice to see you again."

"Likewise brother. Congratulations by the way."

"So this is the one woman who managed to tie down my brother. I must say Tensor, she is beautiful. I'm Natalie my dear but feel free to call me Nat. I know this selfish brother of mine hasn't told you of my existence." Natalie introduced herself to Esmeralda.

"I'm Esmeralda. He has mentioned you once when talking about Katrina. Its a pleasure to meet you."

The girls got along fine and that put Tensor at ease. The rest of the evening went on smoothly. Natalie and her family left sometime later after the party was over. They lived in their own mansion not far from Tensor.

Esmeralda was getting undressed when she heard a soft knock on her door.

"Who is it?"

"Its me." Tensor replied and got inside. Esmeralda was in front of the mirror removing her makeup when their eyes met. They both stood looking at each other until Esmeralda broke the eye contact between them.

"You were wonderful today, Esme."

"Thank you." She replied and turned to meet him.

"How are you feeling now?" Tensor asked genuinely

"Im fine Tensor. There is no need to worry." She replied

He stepped closer to her and touched her chin to make her look at him, "I wont stop worrying until the doctor says otherwise. You have worked yourself out enough for today. Now you get to bed." After saying that he left the room.

Esmeralda was surprised. He just left. Without even kissing her goodnight. He even seemed to be a bit different.

Why do you expect him to be different when it's all pretence. You just need to remember that Esmeralda and you will be safe.

She needed to remind herself of that then she went to sleep. Tomorrow would be another day.
