Early Sunday morning Esmeralda heard a knock on her door. Luckily she was already awake or else she wouldn't have heard the door at all. It was too early for anyone to knock. She was surprised to find Tensor standing outside

"Good morning Esme. I'm sorry to bother you at such an early hour." Tensor greeted.

"No its okay. I was awake anyway. Is something wrong?"

"No. I wanted you to get ready. We shall be heading to church in an hour." He stated.

"Church?" She had to ask. In all the five years that Esmeralda has worked in the Salvatore mansion she has never seen him going to church.

"Yes church. Don't be so surprised I'm not that much of a sinner." He said and left her shocked at the door. She didn't mean he was a sinner but honestly Tensor had been so cold towards her since the day of their engagement. Was it something she did or said? She kept asking herself those questions repeatedly. He didn't want to touch her or kiss her in private anymore. He didn't call her darling when they were alone which was rare these days because he was too busy working. And she never asked why because frankly speaking their whole relationship is a fake. It hurt her inside because she missed him. In public he would be sweet but his romantic gestures were also reduced to a simple kiss every once in a while.

You do get to at least kiss him Esmeralda. Be thankful.

She got ready within thirty minutes. She put on a simple church dress and applied light makeup then went downstairs. She found Tensor on the dining table having a cup of coffee. She took tea instead since she wasn't a fan of coffee.

"Good morning. Is mother still getting ready?" She asked him as she noticed he was the only one having breakfast.

"Mother is asleep. We are the only ones going to church so hurry up with your tea." He replied without looking at her. He kept focusing on the newspaper he was reading. It was too much for him. Tensor could feel himself falling deeper and deeper everyday. This was the only way to protect himself. Esmeralda didn't seem to be affected by his absence in any way so that just proved his point that she didn't have any feelings for him. He started working late to avoid seeing her beautiful face every night. Thank God for the Cuba exports expansion deal he had something to keep him busy. Knowing she was in her room every night took every ounce of his strength to prevent him from knocking. He saw her coming down looking painfully beautiful his trousers were suddenly tight. He made the mistake of looking at her one time and that could have been the blow.

"I need to get something in my room. Ill be back." He made an excuse and left to his room. He looked at himself in the mirror and couldn't believe how messed up this whole thing was.

It was supposed to be a fucking deal. You weren't supposed to fall for her Tensor.

This morning he had no option but to knock on her door since he remembered the promise he made when Esmeralda fell. So he had to torture himself more by seeing her beautiful face immediately after she woke up. How was it possible that someone looked beautiful early in the morning. He couldn't blame her for being shocked when he mentioned where they were going. And the answer he gave her.

Time was running so they had to leave. He went back downstairs and found Esmeralda finishing her tea.

"Lets go." He said and proceeded to the car.

Esmeralda followed shortly and found him standing at the door. He opened the door for her then went to his side after she was seated. They took a driver today since they drove the limo.

It was too quiet in the car and the silence was irritating him. How could a drive to the church be that long. It wasn't that far from home after all.

After what felt like ages they got to the church and Tensor went after a long time to ask for God's help.

The trip back home was the same. Tensor stole a glace at Esmeralda every now and then. He saw something but couldn't figure out exactly what it was.

"Are you feeling alright?" He asked her.

"Yes. I'm fine." She answered with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. She didn't smile as often these days. Not that he could blame her. He missed her and those lips. How long has it been since they had shared an honest kiss? Ages. He pressed a button at his side and the privacy panel of the car was on.

"So how are the wedding preparations going?" He asked her again.

"So far so good. Ill be going for dress fitting Tuesday morning. And the caterers will need us for food tasting on Wednesday. Can you make it?"

He could sense the sadness in her voice. But why would she be sad or maybe she didn't want to marry him even if it was a lie. He turned to face her and replied, "Ill have to check my calendar and see if i can fix something."

"Okay."

And the silence was back again.
