"Hey 'brina, you're going to have to go to a new school for second grade." My mother says.
"Where am I going mommy?" I say after swallowing my spoonful of cereal.
"You're going to Oaklands Elementary school."
"What about my friends? No one will like me there." I say sadly.
"They'll like you. Just talk to people and make friends, it's easy." My mother smiles at me encouragingly and I sigh.
"Okay mom."

Hi my name is Sabrina, but you can call me 'brina for short. I'm 7 years old and today is now a week in my new elementary school. I'm very shy when it comes to meeting people I don't know, but we'll see.

Recess Time
I finish my food and it's time for recess. Everyone runs to swings, and those that didn't make it first waited their turn. Since I didn't make any friends, I sat on a what looked like a green ladder standing on the ground, shaped like a lowercased 'm.' I look around and see that everyone is laughing and running around, then see a teacher curling her finger at me to go to her. I jump off and walk to her and she says, "Why aren't you playing?"
"I don't have any friends to play with Miss." I give her a confused face because if I had friends, then I would play with them you know? smh adults and their logic.
"Well, why don't you find someone to play with?"
"I'm too shy..." The lady looks around and calls for two girls named Marie and Victoria.
"Girls, this is Sabrina, is it okay if she plays with you?" A girl, I think is Victoria, smiles and says,
"Of course she can play with us." She looks at me and says, "We were just about to play Hide-and-seek."
I give her a small smile back and say, "Sounds fun." Her smile got bigger. I was starting to worry that she was in pain for smiling too hard.
"My name is Marie." Ah..I assumed wrong. She stretched her arm in front of her to shake my hand, and well, we shook hands and I introduced myself.
The girl next to her says, "and I'm Victoria," I figured. "But you can call me Vicky or Tori." She gives me a kind smile that doesn't looked forced like Marie's.
"Okay girls, go have fun." The adult lady says.
"Okay" I say.
"Okie dokie" Tori says.
"Yes ma'am." Marie says and we walk away to start playing.

Marie, Tori, and I start walking, and I look around to get a good look at the playground. There are 2 parks, a swing, and two basketball courts that people call the black top. The basketball court is closer to the school while the parks and swings are down the small hill. We stop in between the two parks and Marie starts talking about the game. "Okay, you and Victoria are going to hide and I will go seek."
Tori and I said "okay" and waited for Marie to close her eyes and count. When she starts counting, we start running to our hiding spots. I hid under one of the parks where a small slide covered one side, a wobbly bridge covered another, and stairs on the other two sides.
Minutes have passed and the staffs blow a whistle telling all the kids to line back up to go back in the school by class. I was still hidden and I thought "Am I really that good at hiding?" I got out and see that Marie and Victoria are already in line.
They see me walking towards my class line and Marie says, "Wow Sabrina! You're really good at hiding!"
"Thanks." I say, but there wasn't really much to look for in the playground. I decided to not think too much about it.

Home
School is over and I head home. I take the bus home and all I did was sit and jump in my seat because of the bumps on the road. They should really get seatbelts.
I knock on the door and my mom opens it with a small smile on her face. "Hey, how was school today."
"It was good, I made friends and got to play hide-and seek"
"That's great! Did you hide or seek?"
"I was hiding. I was so good that when the adults whistled for the end of recess, they still didn't find me."
"Really? After 30 minutes?" My mom asks surprisingly.
"Well it was probably 20, but yeah."
"Well you must be a good hider then"
"Yupp." I smell the air and smell that my mom made her famous pork adobo (a filipino dish. picture of it is below)
I think, 'Mmm gotta do my homework first, so dinner time will come quicker."
