Ashton’s POV

After watching my mate leave, I packed up my stuff and grabbed all the students’ projects to take them home. I was walking out to my car when I heard shouting from the fields. One field held the boys soccer team, bringing back memories from when I was captain on the team.  The other field held the girl’s field hockey team. I always wanted to understand field hockey. It looked interesting and very competitive. So after putting all my things in the car I walked over to the soccer coach, who is the beta to my father, who used to be my coach too.

“Hey Mike!” I said when I got close enough. He turned around with a big smile on his face.

“Hey Ashton, what are you doing out here?” he asked

“Well you know how I love sports?” he nodded his head, “Well I was wondering if you knew the girl’s field hockey coach. I’ve always been interesting in it.” I said giving him a smile.

He chuckled, “Yeah that’s Coach Davis. She’s a tough coach, so watch out.”

“No girl can resist the Ash man.” I stated giving him a wink and started to walk away.

“That cocky attitude is going to get you in trouble boy!” Mike yelled while laughing.

I walked over to the girl’s field and walked right up to the coach.

“Hello Coach.” I said giving her my biggest smile.

She looked at me and chuckled, “That won’t work on me boy. I could be your mother.”

“Don’t forget that you don’t bat for that team coach.” I heard Peyton say, jogging up to us.

The coach started to laugh, “Your absolutely right, Peyton.” And she turned to me giving me a wink. This made me chuckle.

“How is Sandy?” Peyton asked

“She’s doing well. We’ve decided we wanted to adopt a child.”

“Oh my gosh! Are you serious?” Peyton ran and hugged her coach. “IM GOING TO BE AN AUNTIE!!” Her coach started to laugh hysterically.

“You two are related?” I asked shocked. They both shook their heads.

“No, no. she’s the closest thing I have to family.” Peyton said a sour look on her face. I immediately felt bad.

I thought that she had lost her parents, “I am so sorry for your lost.” She looked at me like I grew an extra head and then busted out laughing.

“Oh that is funny.” She said between laughs. “They’re not dead. Even though I wished they were.” She mumbled the last part but I could still hear her.

“Alright Pey get the girls together, and we’ll do a quick scrimmage. Then we’ll be all done with practice.” Peyton saluted her coach and jogged off.

“I meant to ask you, was there something you needed?” Coach Davis asked me.

I started to rub the back of my neck, “Well…I…um was and still am interesting into sports and I’ve always found field hockey interesting. I was wondering if I could watch and maybe you could… um… explain it a little bit.” I said. She smiled at me.

“Of course, they are about to do a scrimmage so you can watch and get the gist of it.” I nodded my head as she blows the whistle, causing girls to start. I watched as Peyton got the ball and shot it down the field.
