I walked into class and sat down in my usual seat. The seat next to me is almost always empty, seeing that nobody would talk to me anyways. But today, there sat a boy, couldn't be that much older than me. He looked over at me, his dark brown hair just barely brushing against his eyelashes.

In response, I turn to face the front.

"Okay. Get out your old tests from Friday, you had a chance to grade them yourselves and now you turn in what you have for a final test grade," Mr. Harrison said.

I pulled out my test and set it firmly on my desk, setting a pencil neatly beside it. A giggle sounded next to me. I turned to see the mysterious boy laughing next to me. I turned to him.

"What?" I said with my usual awkwardness.

"Why do you feel the need to be that neat? I mean c'mon," he said when the laughter subsided.

I gave him a blank stare before trying to reply in a normal voice and tone.

"Because I need you. I mean, I need to."

Way to go, Angela. You just made yourself look like an obsessive stalker.

He laughed at me again. I stared at his beautiful face for a moment, feeling lost in his eyes.

"So beautiful," I mumble quietly, but not quiet enough because he just heard me.

What in the hell is up with me today?

This is exactly why I, Angela Carter, should never speak in public.

"What?" he asked, acting like all he heard was a low voice.

"Nothing," I said, brushing my hair out of my face and behind my ear.

"You know, you're pretty cute, other than your weird comments. But yeah."

Shut up. Don't say a damn word to him, it will only make matters worse. Bite your damn tongue, Angela.

"Thanks," I say, giggling uncontrollably.

He backed his head away for a moment and gave me a weird look.

Nice. Scare him off, why don't you? You need to flirt in the right way.

"Your hot, too. I mean, thanks."

My face turns a bright pink, followed by shaky hands. This is the first guy in years to tell me that I'm cute, other than Matt, of course.

"Why do you do that?" he asked.

"What?"

"Say things that embarrass yourself. That's cute too, but you flare up like a tomato."

This is exactly why I don't speak in public without my friends.

I looked at him with even redder cheeks than before, this has turned out to be one of the worst things that has happened to me in high school.

"I don't know," I mumble before turning in my seat to face the board.

Hopefully he doesn't sit here tomorrow.

"You know, there's a new kid. And he is hot as hell," Monica said across from me at our lunch table, "I haven't talked to him or anything, but he is really cute."

I gave her a blank stare before turning to my lunch and taking a bite out if my sandwich.

"Yeah, I saw him today," I said, food stuffed in my small mouth.

"Where?"

"Bio. He sat next to me."

"What did you say to him?"
