My trip to the principal's office was terrible. For one, the principal didn't know how to control the volume of her voice. For two, the sight of her just creeps me out.

"Angela, you have to know that swearing is wrong," she lectured, "and I forgot to mention how you were in your first three hours last Friday, but not the rest of the day. And I know that you weren't dismissed by a parent or any other adult."

Her words burned holes in my skin. I wasn't even the one who had the idea to skip, Jordan did, and when she said the last word, I started feeling lightheaded.

"Yes, I did skip, but I didn't go alone," I stated.

Shut the fuck up. You can't be a snitch. Jordan will rip you a fucking new one.

"And who was this person you were with?" she asked, raising her hairy eyebrows.

I can't rat him out. People who skip with other people can't just rat the other one out.

"I can't give you that information," I said, looking down in shame.

"Well, if you tell me now, you won't get two weeks worth of detention."

Did she just fucking bribe me? Really?

"I'm sorry. I just can't tell you."

She put a small blue slip in front of my face and I looked up at her.

"You have the detentions. If I catch you skipping again, it's a suspension."

I nodded at her and gathered my things. Before I could touch the door handle she spoke.

"And I will be calling your mom to let her know that you skipped."

Fuck my life.

"Sweetie, I'm so sorry that you have to sit through that shit," Monica said, biting into her sandwich.

"I know. And I never had another option to stay back at the school. Jordan would've physically forced me," I said, glaring at my lunch tray.

Speak of the damn devil.

Jordan sat down next to me and threw an arm around my small shoulders.

"Sup, babe?" he asked, leaning back in his chair.

Did he seriously just call me that?

I grabbed his arm and brushed it off my shoulder. He gave me a surprised look and bit into his sandwich.

"What's the matter with you?" he asked.

I rolled my eyes and continued eating. Jordan honestly doesn't have a clue why, and I'm not going to tell him. If he really wants to know, he needs to find out for himself.

Monica stood up and walked over to my chair.

"C'mon, let's go. You still have council today," she said, placing her hand on my shoulder.

Maybe this time, someone won't force me to skip after the meeting.

"So, Michelle has printed off the names of everybody, we are here today to cut and fold them all," Isaac said, clapping his hands together.

The council let out a big groan and Isaac snapped his eyes to everybody.

"C'mon guys, its not that bad, just get your buns in gear," he said.

I stood up and reached for the papers. A manicured hand slapped mine out of the way.

"The freak council is over there," Michelle said behind me.
