Ok, so I've been editing for like 5 fucking years, and I noticed there's been a shift in the eras.
When I first came to the graphic design field in like 2015, there were also a lot of beginners joining along with me. I mainly focused on anime, so the first era I ever encountered was
THE BOOMER ERA
There was a lot of noobity going around. I worshiped covers that looked like over- contrast and over blending hurled all over it–and you did too.
ANY cover that looked like it had some airbrush erase, a weird dark edited background with compasses on it or whatever, and a psd slap was basically the golden era. If you could blend, you could edit. And I spent half of my time trying to learn how to blend I didn't focus on the fact that the blending I was learning was yikes.
Photoshop designers were gods. Mobile designers only used Pixlr, Picsart and Phonto, and were regarded as the trash of the bunch.

THE KPOP ERA
. Kpop themed covers took off, same-colour-syndrome came into play, and it was the era of STROKE, DROP SHADOW, DOTTED LINES, AND RANDOM PNG SCRIBBLES.
Backgrounds did not matter. All that mattered was getting that face claim to have as many doodles around them as possible, then finding the right monochrome or duochrome psd to finish it off.
Also, your gallery must be overflowing with useless pngs to add to your cover to make it look like it had substance :")
Btw mobile editors still didn't have rights :)
at this time Pixellab became a thing and the mobile designers were going crazy with bevel bc they thought they finally had a photoshop ability lmaooo 😂😂😭😭 clownery
