Love ya, you gremlins

"What do you mean he's gone?"

Eddie had sat down next to Beverly, reluctantly telling her when she asked about Richie.

"I don't know why he disappeared, I think he's upset about what happened between us and.." The boy trailed off, putting a hand over his forehead.

"Is he coming back?"

"I.. I don't know?" Eddie said, looking more and more anxious the more they spoke about Richie. "After we..." Eddie couldn't bring himself to say it. It's wrong, right? No one can know. I can't kiss other boys.

"I..." Eddie felt tears begin to swell in his eyes, both out of anger and distress. How could he cry in front of Beverly? The reason they were there was to protect Beverly, to help her make the right choices. He had to fix this, but it was all a mess. A mistake.

"Eddie?" Beverly said after a few moments.

Eddie was snapped out of his thoughts.
"I think he wants to be by himself." He said quietly, his voice shaking as his gaze rested on his hands.
"I bet he'll come back, right?" Beverly said hopefully.
She's in a good mood, Eddie thought, almost chuckling to himself. In spite of being unconvinced of Richie coming back, Eddie drew his hand over his damp eyes and nodded.
"Right." He echoed.

"Okay, so he must be really upset if he's been gone for.." Beverly said from across the living room, checking her watch. "Three days.." She looked cautiously up at Eddie who nervously shifted his legs on the couch.

"He's definitely not okay." Eddie said, standing up and beginning to walk back and forth as Beverly watched with worry. I really messed up, didn't I? I messed up, what did I do? Why would he just leave me like that?

"We're gonna have to find him, then." Eddie sighed out, his arms crossed. Beverly gaped at him incredulously. "What? How would we find him? You said he vanished, right?" She said, her brows furrowed, pausing the movie on the tv.

Eddie sat in front of her, lost in thought. How would I find him? He's never vanished like this. Maybe.. he didn't want to finish that thought.

"Wait," Beverly's blue eyes held onto Eddie's.
"Maybe Stanley would know about this."

"What?" Eddie said, tipping his head to one side.

"The angel." Beverly pressed. "Mike. Maybe he could help."

"Hm.." Eddie looked at the paused TV screen. "That could work. You really think they could help us get to Richie?"

"Worth a shot," Beverly shrugged, a determined sparkle in her eyes.

Beverly hopped up the steps of the Uris house, pausing in front of the door and glancing back at Eddie. The angel nodded, his feathered wings oscillating gently.

Beverly then knocked and within seconds, the door opened and Stan stood in front of Beverly.

"Hey, Bev," The boy said, seeming slightly perplexed. He jumped when he saw Eddie, startled that he could see him, and waved back hesitantly when Eddie did.

"We need your help, Stan. Can we come in?" Beverly said, slightly bouncing on her heels restlessly.

"Of course." He opened the door wider and closed it behind the two teens, following Beverly up the stairs with Eddie close behind as the angel studied his surroundings.

"What do you need help with-" Stan began when they got to his room before being cut off by Beverly.
"Does Mike know anything about bringing devils or angels back?"
"Mike...? He-" Stan was interrupted again by a tall, angelic figure peering around behind him.

"Did someone mention me?" The boy said, causing Beverly and Eddie to jump, while Stan turned to him and nodded. Mike stepped in front of the other two teenagers, giving them a small, greeting smile.

"They need help." Stan said. "Devil problems."

"Richie?" Mike said, turning from Stan to the other two.

Beverly nodded quickly. "He's gone."

"Gone?" Stanley and Mike said in chorus, switching a glance.

"He disappeared a few days a go. He was upset, and I think he got overwhelmed." Eddie added, sounding like he didn't want to say too much about it.

Beverly looked at him. "We want to find him as soon as possible, but we don't know how." She explained, taking over.

Mike thought for a moment as the others looked at him expectantly. "Well, have you tried anything yet?"

Beverly and Eddie shook their heads.

Mike then turned to Stan's bookshelf, fumbling through the books.

"What are you doing?" Stan said, walking over and sitting on the edge of his bed, watching Mike.

"Books hold a lot of power, if that's what you mean. If we want to know how to bring Richie back, we'll need some kind of book to tell us how." The angel said, not looking away as Stan picked up a book that had fallen.

"What do you mean?" Eddie said, coming up next to Mike and looking through the books as well.

"It has to be an important book." He met Eddie's eyes for a moment. "One that holds meaning. It can give us some indication."

Stan then stood up from the bed, earning everyone's attention.

"I think I have an idea for what we could use."
