Grace's POV

I hear Sophie wailing from her bedroom down the hall from us. I turn to look at the clock: 2:46am.

"I'll get her babe." Chester says.

"No it's fine." I mumble groggily. "I'll go."

I shuffle down the hall and push open Sophie's bedroom door.

"What's wrong little miss?" I ask, picking her up.

Sophie whimpers, tears staining her rosy cheeks. Her small, round eyes are glazed with tears, and her little lips set in a frown. The sight of her upset breaks my heart.

"Don't cry baby girl, it's okay." I attempt to comfort her.

I feed her, and she calms down. Sitting in the rocking chair, I rock back and forth rhythmically to soothe her. She eventually drifts back to sleep, and I place her back in the crib. She looks so peaceful, her tiny thumb in her mouth.

"Sleep well darling." I whisper, pulling the door almost closed.
