There's not much more Christmassy - yes, that's a word as far as I'm concerned - than Science Fiction; not for me, anyway. My memories of the Holidays are filled with all kinds of science fictional, erm... memories, mostly 'cos during the late 80s and early 90s, the Christmas break was the time they put all the Sci-Fi on the telly-box. 'Course, it wasn't just Sci-Fi they put on there... In fact I seem to recall getting incredibly excited every year 'cos both Dumbo and Mary Poppins were on.

Christmas was the time I fell in love with Science Fiction. I was barely out of short trousers at the time and I'd seen Sci-fi before - my Nan took me to the local cinema to watch Masters of the Universe - she also used to sit up late with me drinking and watching wrestling, bless her - and I enjoyed it, sure, but I reckon I was probably too young to appreciate what I was actually watching.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve - it might have been foggy, you don't know - some time after the turkey and Christmas pudding, I happened to sit down in front of the telly and catch the start of Back to the Future - y'know the bit with the amplifier and the clocks, right? - and I couldn't stop watching. To this day, the Back to the Future trilogy is the best Sci-Fi trilogy by a country mile, in my opinion.

'Course, they always used to show the original Star Wars trilogy over the holidays, too, and if memory serves one or two Star Trek movies tended to make an appearance but for me, Christmas was always about Marty McFly, Doc Brown and that DeLorean!

So tell us, 'troopers... Do you have any Science Fictional-type holiday memories? Share them with us below!
