****Charlie’s Point Of View****
One more day to the party! I was so excited; I couldn’t help but remind myself every hour that I was going to a party with the hottest guy in the school, how lucky am I! There was one downside, Kat always helped me get ready for this sort of thing, it was our special thing to do together. We blasted some music, danced around the room, and helped each other get ready. God, I missed having someone like her around, I know it hadn’t been long, but she was like a sister to me.
As I reached my room, I realised my door was shut tight, and music was softly spilling out of the door. Who is in my room? I thought to myself as I began to open the door
“O my god Kat!”
Sitting on the edge of my bed, with my laptop, was my best friend. I dropped my stuff as she moved the laptop to the floor, but as she began to stand up I ran towards her and engulfed her in a bear hug. We both started to giggle with delight.
“Good to see you to Char” she giggled into my shoulder.
“What are you doing here?! I can’t believe you’re here! Wait, what about-”
“I, Miss inquisitive, am here to help you get ready for the party you have tomorrow. Come on, get changed, you’re getting something new for this party. You really like this boy; I can hear it in your voice when you talk about him over the phone, so you need to look hot and I, your faithful best friend, am here to help you. So come on, get changed and let hit the mall!”
“What? Okay, well-”
“GO!”
God that women can get worked up! Turning on my heel I walk into my closet, strip of my outer clothing and slip into the first thing I get; jeans and a plain shirt. I grab my keys, get a hold of Kat’s wrist and pull her down the stairs and to my car.
We drive in silence for the first few minutes, Kats is texting someone. So I reach for the radio and turn it onto my favourite station. When I realise its Kat and I’s song, I squeal and turn it up. Looking over I can see that Kat has started to sing along, so like usual, I join her.
“I say I hate you, we break up, you call me, I love you. - We called it off again last night but, - this time, I’m telling you, I’m telling you. We are never ever ever, getting back together.”
I couldn’t hold in my laugh when I heard Kats usually perfect voice break as soon as we go into the chorus.
“Shut up bitch,” she turns to me and says in her mock anger, “its not like you could do any better!”
“Ow yeah,” I say excepting the challenge, “we’ll see about that”
I turn it up just a little bit louder and begin to sing the song at the top of my lungs. Just as the song ends, we pull into a parking space at the mall. I turn the car off, turn to look at my best friend and can’t help but rub in the fact that I hit every note.
“Suck it, I win!” I put the biggest smile I can muster and show her my pearly white teeth. “Told you I would do better with that song, you just didn’t believe me.”
She stuck her tongue out at me and began to giggle. We hopped out of the car, and walked into the mall, arms linked. I have missed her so much! Walking into the first store we see that is semi acceptable, Kat detaches herself from my side and begins to dig through the racks searching for the perfect outfit for me.
This is going to be a long night, I thought to myself. Kat wouldn’t rest until I was perfect.
---------------
After about 3 hours of constantly trying on new things, Kat settled for a dress we found in some store I have never heard of. It was tight fitting, had an open back and was a pinky red colour. We grabbed some bangles and a necklace thing just before we walked out of the store. As we headed for my car, bags in hand, Kat stopped dead in her tracks, mouth a gape.
“What? Kat what are you staring at?”
She grabbed my wrist and we ran into a store that sold only shoes. Typical, Kat always has to look at shoes.
“Char, these shoes will be perfect with your outfit! You will look like a total babe!”
She reached for a pair of black leather heels with a peep toe. I had to say, they were amazing. We went to the shoe lady and asked for my size. After putting them on and walking around for a while, I HAD to have them. I looked at the box. SHIT!!!
“O well. We should run to Kmart or something, there is no way I can afford these Kat.”
“Shut up and give them to me, early graduation gift.”
“What!? No I -”
It was too late. She had her card out and was handling it over to the checkout chick. At times like these, I love Kat, and I hate her. Yer, her family is loaded but those shoes were $350!!!
Kat grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the store and all the way to the car before I could argue. She knows me so well

****Austin’s Point of View****
Dude, get a hold of yourself!! I couldn’t help it, I was nervous as hell. I hadn’t seen Charlie at school, and when I texted her to ask where she was, she just said home. Nothing else.
I pulled into my driveway, grabbed my crap and walked into the house. I ran up the stairs as quickly and quietly as I could. Ever since my mum died, well let’s just say he never really got over it. He still worked and got paid well, but he get angry- really, really angry.
Once in my room I stripped and got into the shower, just standing under the hot water, letting it run down my back and work some of the tension from my shoulders. As soon as I got out, I got ready for the party and left to pick up Charlie. Calm down Austin, she is just a girl!
Knock, knock, knock.
Just as I was about to knock again the door flew open and Charlie stood in front of me. Holy Shit!!
“What?! Do I look ok, what is it?”
She had the most adorable look on her face. It was a mix of worry and confusion.
“You…You look absolutely incredible” I whispered, breathe taken.
Her cheeks got a soft pink and she looked down at her toes, embarrassed.
“Im going now mum, don’t wait up!” she called into the house before grabbing my wrist and dragging me to my car. I couldn’t help but chuckle at her, she was unquestionably adorable.
We got into my car and I shot her a quick smile before awakening the engine of my car and driving off to the party.
I. Couldn’t. Wait.

I couldn’t help but blush when I saw Austin glance at me again, his eyes sparkling. I have only known this guy for a few days, but I could help it. I was falling for him, fast!
As we sat in his car, enveloped in a comfortable silence, I felt something touch my hand and had a slight jolt.
“O, er…sorry. I, just, um.” Austin’s cheeks were blazing, I couldn’t hold in the giggle.
I reached for his hand and entwined our fingers. I was dumbfounded at the sight of our hands together, we fit perfectly. I looked over to Austin and began to feel this buzzing in the pit of my stomach. O please, no! I can’t feel this. No. As we pulled into the driveway, I could feel the thumping of music. This I thought to myself is going to be one hell of a party!
