Chapter Nine

Matteo POV

"Wake up baby, we're home."

Anna's eyes flutter open and she looks confused for a second but sticks her hand out at me, I gently take it and help her out of the car and curse when she starts to shiver from the cold.

That gods damned dress wasn't doing justice to keep her warm, I wrap my arm around her and guide her inside quickly. I can tell how tired she is as she continues to trip over herself, eventually I sigh and pick her up.

My tired, stubborn girl decides to not fight me on this one and allows me to carry her to my apartment. Her sweet smell fills my head and I feel my cock twitch and soon I'm rocking a hard-on.

Fuck.

Soft snores emit from Anna as I hold her with one arm and unlock the apartment door. I find Vincent sitting up on the couch, he looks over the couch arm and jumps up, not wanting him to wake up Anna, I shake my head at him, halting his advances.

He gives me a slight smile and jumps back onto the couch, returning to his cartoons.

I shoulder my way through to my bedroom and gently lie Anna down. Opening the drawer door, next to my bed I pull out the small syringe. I can't have her wake up on the plane and freak out on me.

Anna sleeps on her back, her hair slightly covering her face. I brush the loose strands and I cup her cheek.

Sliding my hand into my back pocket I smoothly retrieve the syringe. The drug I had chosen had the least amount of side effects, I wanted her to be as comfortable as possible.

I press a small kiss to her forehead and I hesitate when I see her curl her face into my palm.

If only we had met at a different time, a different place.

I quickly find the mark on her arm and gently inject her with the serum.

The action causes Anna's eyes to fly open and a whimper escapes her lips.

"Shh, it's okay baby. I'm right here." I say in a deep calm voice, hoping to soothe her.

Anna glances down and it's not long before she registers what's happening and her eyes fill with tears, her mouth opens and my heart cracks at the small sob that comes out.

Her eyes are wide and filled with fear as she tries to kick me in the groin but I deflect it. I'll allow her to fight this one time, due to my small betrayal but I will tolerate no more than that.

"Matteo?" She cries out as she tries to struggle underneath me but I quickly toss the syringe and catch her wrists in one hand and lift them above her head. My other goes to her mouth.

"It's okay, sleep baby." I can tell the drug is starting to affect her as eyes struggle to open and she slumps into the mattress. I brush her hair off her face once again due to her earlier struggles and wipe her tears.

Making sure she is comfortable in my bed, I get up and tell Vincent that I'm going to pick up a few things before locking and shutting the door on my way out. I know that Anna will be knocked for at least twelve hours, we'll be gone in one hour.

I made my way towards Anna's apartment, I made sure to grab a duffel bag prior to grabbing a few of her things. I unlock her door and grab necessities, underwear, bras, and even the small teddy bear I've seen on her dresser. A few pairs of pants, shirts, and a few pairs of PJ's and I'm done.

I make my way back to my apartment and drop the duffel bag at the door. Entering my apartment, I smile as I find her small figure curled up in my large bed. Walking up to the bed I scoop her in my arms and cradle her like I would a child and tuck her head into my chest. Using one arm I grab the small quilt I had bought for her and tuck her in it, making sure she will be warm.
