Clara Scott
He was not here today! I was so glad but at the same time worried about his absence from school.
No one found it unusual that he was not here. Evelyn said, he doesn't show up at times and I was relieved to here that. Well, at least no one will be there to boss me around.
That's what I thought, until his friend Theodore shows up in front of me in one of my classes.
"Your highness has assigned me a duty for you." He said and I groaned.
"Are you kidding me?" I said out loud and he give me an amusing look.
"I'm not." He said and cleared his throat. "He wants you to take notes for him in whichever classes you guys are sharing and also wants you to tell him all the announcement that the teachers made."
"What is his reason behind his absence?" I asked. It better be a good reason.
"Personal reasons." He brushed me off.
"Now, how am I suppose to share the assignments and announcements with him?"
"Make a note in a paper and when he comes tomorrow or Monday, give it to him." He said in the most obvious tone.
"You know that's like adding another work to my load, but whatever." I said.
"Good." He said. "He told me to tell you not to miss him too much."
"I won't be missing him, trust me." I said. "Not like I spend a lot of times with him anyway."
He chuckled, "See you, Scott." And turned to walk away.
The day went beautifully, no glares from the green eyes, no demands and of course no extra work for me, that needs me to stay back after school.
"You seem happy." Jay said.
"Boss is not around." I grinned at him and his eyes widened in realization.
"Right." He said.
I met Alex and asked him if there was any feedback from the principal, he said not yet. She is looking for witnesses and stuff and I was worried about his safety and about how the students will go against him.
"I did my part." He said. "That's the only thing, that matters to me."
"If you need someone to talk to, I'm here." I said.
"I know." He smiled. "I'm seeing a professional, at the moment."
"Alex." I said. "I hope you will feel better." And give him a quick hug.
"It takes time for everything." He said and patted my back.
School went by quicker and nicer. No one actually bothered me in school, which was wonderful. When Evelyn dropped me off home. I made myself a sandwich as a snack and started with my homework. Halfway through, I was procrastinating and was playing with my phone and then scolded myself and continued with my work until I had to make dinner. After making dinner and our lunches for tomorrow. I went to take a shower.
The door bell rang when I was coming down from the stairs and I looked at my phone. It should be Dad,but did he forget his key? I opened the door and see the unexpected. It was Emmett, he was wearing a grey hoodie with black jeans and his infamous Vans. He have a baseball cap on and sunglasses on.
"Are you here for assignments details?" I asked.
"Not in the mood for that." He said. "Can I come in?" That was the first time this week, I heard him asking instead of demanding and I didn't want to challenge him at this moment and I stepped aside for him to enter.
He didn't look too well to me. I noticed his right hand which has bandaged and wondered what happened.
"You want something to drink?" I asked. He shake his head, no. He sat on the couch and closed his eyes.
"Would you like to eat something? I made mashed potato casserole. I'm not good at cooking, I followed the recipe, so it should be edible." I said awkwardly, why was I even being nice to him? Maybe, it's because I don't know how to deal with this quiet boy in front of me.
"Sure." He said standing up and took off his glasses. His eyes seemed distance, he seemed tired.I removed my things from the counter and wiped the table. I scooped some foods for him on a plate and brought him a glass of lemon ice water.
"Thanks." He said. "Ain't you going to eat?"
I was planning to eat with my Dad, but I think he will be working overtime. I can't believe he is working overtime in the first week of his work. I scooped myself some foods as well and sat beside him. I wanted to ask him about his hand, but felt like I will be crossing a line.
"Theodore did actually pass the message to me." I said breaking the silence and he smiled.
"Good." He said.
"I wrote down all the announcement on a paper." I said, "You can have my notes, but make sure I have it back."
He laughed a little and looked at me before sighing. "Thanks."
Well, that's another first.
"You're welcome." I smiled back.
"I like your smile." He suddenly said. "It makes your dimples much more noticeable." He poke my dimples and I slap his finger away.
"Thanks, I will take that as a compliment." I said, flushing a little. It feels weird to hear compliments from him.
"Your Dad is not home, yet?" He asked.
"I think he is working overtime." I said checking my phone. I didn't receive any text from him yet and he didn't reply to my message, either."
"It's just you and your Dad?" He asked.
"Yea." I said.
I know what he will say next.
"She left us for her career when I was little." I said.
"I'm sorry." He apologized.
I shrugged. "Would you like some more?" I asked and he shake his head. Just to lighten the mood, I gasped.
"You think my cooking is bad, isn't it?" I teased and he laughed. I have never heard him laugh since I met him. His eyes twinkled a little and his feature soften along with his eyes.
"I can say it is better than mine." He assured.
"Do you know how to cook?" I asked, curiously.
"No. I have never cooked before, and even if I cook now. It's nothing comparable to yours." He smiled.
I laughed and wondered why he was here? But I'm glad he was here. Does that make me crazy wanting him here with me?
