I had to admit that hanging out with Archer wasn't bad. Alright, it was fun. I was surprised that we got any cleaning done. We were messing around most of the time. I also hid Mr. Stevens' reading glasses. They would be easy to find, but it'd still be funny to see him look for them.
When we finally focused on cleaning, there was only about twenty minutes of our detention left, so we had to make things at least look clean.
Mr. Stevens had left us a list of things to do, so we had plenty to do. It was annoying, but at least I wasn't doing it all alone.
I looked at the list one more time to see if there was anything I missed. "Check that. Check that." I glared at the last item on the list: mark the textbooks with numbers and place them in the top cabinet.
Archer was busy wiping down the desks so this was apparently my task.
Once I was done putting the number stickers on the textbooks, I stacked as many as I could to save a trip to the cabinets across the classroom. I heaved all the heavy books in my arms, lifting them off the table they were on.
"Careful, Farryn. You don't want to topple over." Archer teased.
I couldn't see him since there was a stack of books in my face, so I couldn't tell if he was just teasing. "I'm fine, dude." I grunted.
I heard him chuckle from directly in front of me and a few books were removed from the top of the stack. The sudden weight change threw me off balance and I staggered forward. My foot caught onto the leg of a desk and I yelped as I pitched forward.
Textbooks flew and I was suddenly on the ground. Except, it wasn't the ground. I had completely flattened Archer in my fall, and my body had used his as a landing spot.
I froze in place, my face a mere inch from Archer's. I was like a deer in the headlights as I looked into his amber eyes. My heart was going to beat right out of my chest, it was pounding so hard. Or was I feeling Archer's rapid heartbeat?
He seemed as frozen as I was. But he broke free much sooner. His lips twitched into a smile. "I told you to be careful."
Move, Farryn! I was still on top of him, staring like a complete moron.
He raised an eyebrow, but there was a gleam of distraction in his eyes. "No injuries, right?" His question sounded breathless.
My mouth twisted into a smirk. "Breathless? I didn't think I was that heavy."
Archer immediately returned the smirk. "I just haven't had a girl be the one on top in a long time."
"You wish." I finally pushed off him, immediately missing the warmth of his body. I silently cursed myself for being so stupid.
Archer sat up. "Oh, so you'd prefer to be the bottom. Perfect. That's what I like."
I rolled my eyes. "Don't be disgusting, Archer."
"Hey, you won't call it disgusting once you've tried it with me."
That succeeded in bringing my blush to surface. "Please shut up. I beg of you." I gathered the scattered textbooks, and Archer crouched next to me to help.
"I was teasing, Farryn." Archer's words didn't match his mischievous expression.
"Oh, so you have no faith in your skills? Good to know."
"Oh, I do, Farryn." He leaned down to my ear. "I could gladly give you a demonstration."
"Really?" I raised an unimpressed eyebrow. "You're that confident?"
