Chapter 4
“Uh, Amber who the f*** was that?”
Tristan glared at his girlfriend. He wanted answers and he wanted them fast. However, she wouldn’t look at him, she was holding those damn roses to her chest like it was a life line and it was pissing him the hell off.
He walked closer to her and grabbed the roses, throwing them to the ground. She gasped at him horrified. Her eyes welled with tears and without a word, she bend to pick up the ruined roses. Tristan moved into her path, stepping on the stupid flowers.
He grabbed her before she could touch them.
“Leave them!”
She started shaking her head with her eyes cast down, still looking at those damn roses. What the hell!
He loosen his hold on her and spoke softly. He hated to see her cry.
“Amber, baby talk to me.”
She started crying harder, big sobs rocking her body. She threw herself into his arms. Wrapping her hands around him and burying her face into his bare chest.
“It’s not… I didn’t… We weren’t… So sorry.”
That was about all Tristan could have understand from the conversation. Although he wanted answers, he knew he wasn’t going to get any until she calmed down.
Sighing, he picked her up and carried her into the bedroom. He tried to put her on the bed, but she wouldn’t let go of him. Her cries were getting louder. The pain in her voice was troubling. She was crying like a woman who just lost her soul mate.
Tristan wasn’t too sure if her tears where for him or the guy that was just at her door. He held her while she cried, not saying a word.
Tristan watched her as she slept. He never thought he would ever settle down. And if he did, he never thought it would be at the age of 28. He had a lot of things he planned to do before he took the commitment plunge, like partying, and having lots of sex with lots of different women.
Tristan never in a million years imagined he would ever be one of those guys, who chase behind a woman like a love sick puppy. He never wanted to feel trapped or bored, so he stayed away for women whose personalities screamed, ‘Marry me!’
However, with Amber it was different. There was all that innocence with a hint of wild passion. Although she’s the kind of girl you marry, it was not something that she was looking for. Deep in thought Tristan soon drifted off to sleep.
Tristan woke to the sound of Amber moving around. He got up to see what it was she was doing and got pissed when he saw her sitting on the floor, trying to salvage the roses. He cleared his throat and she turned to look at him. Her eyes were swollen and filled with tears and he cursed upon see it.
“Are you having an affair, Amber? Who the hell was that guy at the door earlier?”
She got up slowly and walked into the kitchen, setting the roses on the counter. Tristan followed her wanting answers.
“His name is Alexandra Christopher, we uh,” she started to choke up. “W-we met about 6 months ago, we went out a few time but nothing happened.”
Nothing happened? If nothing happened why was she crying and acting like she lost something important. Despite all that, what really bothered Tristan was the fact that she wouldn’t look at him. He didn’t believe for one minute that nothing happened. The look on the guy’s face when he saw Tristan in Amber’s apartment was that of betrayal. If nothing happened the guy would have nothing to feel betrayed about.
“Something happened Amber, why else would this guy act the way he did and why are you crying? Don’t stand there and lie to my face!”
Tristan has never raised his voice on her before, but he couldn’t understand what she was playing at. He was going to get some answers out of her even if it’s the last thing he did.
She still wouldn’t look at him. Her hands were shaking and she was still messing about with those damn roses, putting the few she saved in a glass vase. Tristan walked over to her and swiped his hand sending the roses and the vase crashing to the ground.
She jumped back startled. She started backing up as he walked towards her. She stopped when she had nowhere else to go, her back coming up to the wall. Tristan stood in front of her blocking her in. her entire body is shaking, and her eyes are everywhere but on him.
He grabbed her arms, trying to force her to look at him.
“Look at me.” She still didn’t look at him. Then he shouted, punching the wall behind her. “Damn it Amber look at me!!”
She flinched, but looked at him. “I’m sorry, Tristan.” Was all she said? However, Tristan was not listening to her words, it was the look in her eyes that she was desperately trying to hide that got to him.
“You have feelings for him, don’t you?”
He knew the answer even as he asked the question. It was all there in her eyes. She might try to deny it, but he knows she can’t ever hide her feelings because her eyes always betray her.
She gave a small nod and Tristan curse. One of the things he loved about her was that she always tried her best to never lie.
“Have you slept with him Amber?”
He can forgive her for everything, but if she slept with him, that’s one things he can’t ever forgive.
“No. I wouldn’t never do that to you Tristan. I promise I didn’t.”
He believed her, but he was still pissed. However, he had no one to blame but himself. A year and a half ago he was breaking heart without a care in the world, karma was just paying him back. Kicking him where it hurts most.
Tristan was convinced that karma was a women with a vendetta. The moment he hanged up his player hat and decides to settle down, she swoops in and pulled the rug right from under him, sending in flat on his ass.
Nevertheless, he wasn’t one to give up easily. He found Amber first and there was no way he was letting her walk out of his life without a fight.
“Pack your bags, Amber we’re leaving.”
He said letting go of her. He walked off into her bedroom and started throwing thing into her suitcase. She followed him in confused.
“What are you doing? Where are we going?”
Without looking at her he said, “You’re moving in with me.”
To Tristan this was war, he knows what it’s like to love her, and he didn’t for one minute believe this Alexander Christopher was going to give up so easily. He wanted her with him, where he knows Alexander Christopher won’t be able to find her.
And who knows, maybe just maybe he might make a detour into Vegas and make a visit to the king, legally binding her to him.
