The brightest things

There it was, the finished product

The Tower Beam

We would light it tonight, since there's some last minute things we needed to do. Also, the best time to do it was at night, since it would be brighter.

Me and Maureen took a trip out for an experiment she wanted to do and she told me to stay in the chariot. I fiddled with my fingers and I looked up and suddenly, Maureen was being dragged by a parachute. I jumped out running threw the purple grass towards her.

My hair broke loose of it ponytail,

Trying to keep up with her I dashed ahead and dove rolling and grabbing her leg, ending up with scratches as it slowed down from my weight.

We both panted and looked at each other, both with weary looks of fear and success.

She had cuts all over her face and she started laughing, her cut lip curling into a smiled

I looked at her, a small smile creeping on my lips.

She was at least three feet from a ravine of death.

She's laughing....

She looked at me and hugged me tight with her strong motherly arms. Something of what my mother had.

"Thank u, sometimes I'm glad u don't listen to me." I laughed and helped her up getting the parachute off of her.

"What exactly are u doing?" I said as she attached it to a basket, that was a good human size.

Wait....

"Ur going up there?" I said pointing up to the sky. My mouth feel open as she nodded.

Is their anything this mom couldn't do?

"There's something I need to check, this planet. I don't know why we haven't chose this planet before but, I think there's a flaw and that's why they looked over it." I nodded, taking the words even though I was still shaking from fright.

After she went up in the balloon and I waited at the bottom, in the purple tall grass.

I climbed on top of the chariot and sat there

Waiting.

I looked around at the purple sky, the sun setting over the horizon.

And the purple grass and the clouds
The soft breeze blew my brown and blonde hair. It was a sweet sweet feeling.

I think...I could feel my family.

I hummed "you are my sunshine" since that was what my mom used to sing to me.

Every hum was full of meaning and my moms  tone. It vibrated my chest as I closed my eyes

The grief is starting to lift since it's been a few days. U start to except that their gone. Even though they died I remember that they love me. Even if there in another place. Even though I will never see them again.

The risked their lives for mine....I need to protect that. That's what they gave me, that was what they left me. A life. No one else could do that. Only them.

I rested my head against the satellite pole. The air ballon began to fall back down Maureen looked at me smiling wildly.

I climbed down, feeling the strain in my leg from the scare earlier. I walked over to her as she climbed out.

"You won't believe this, I don't know if u will understand all of it but. Just by looking at it u might understand." I nodded as she handed the research to me as she packed everything up.
