Jade's POV
Hours passed by, but all I did was cry as if that would make Dax any better.
It was late evening and Dax was being moved to the intensive care unit.
I decided that I would be the one who would spend the night with Dax.
Everyone wanted me to go home and get some sleep, but that wouldn't happen because I wasn't going away from Dax.
They finally agreed to let me stay the night at the hospital.
Olivia said she'd go home and get me clean clothes to change into.
Everyone left except Jamie and Alex.
A nurse walked up to us and told us we could now go see Fizzy in the mortuary.
Alex said he'd be with Dax, so Jamie and I followed her.
As I walked down the hallways, people gave me odd looks.
I then realised that I was in my same torn and blood covered clothes.
But that was the least of my concern now.
We entered the cold room and the nurse told us we had five minutes.
But five minutes would never really be enough. In fact, any amount of time would never be enough.
I froze as I couldn't take a step farther.
"Come on", Jamie mumbled as he tugged onto my arm.
"I can't", I whispered as tears streamed down my cheeks.
"We have only five minutes, Jade", he said in a loud tone.
I wiped my tears and took small steps.
Jamie took my hand in his and we were soon in front of her body.
There lay my beautiful angel, Fizzy. She looked so peaceful with her eyes shut, just like she did when she was asleep.
But the bullet mark on her forehead stood out.
The blue-ish purple mark contrasted with her milky white skin.
"I'm so sorry, Fizzy. I'm sorry for being an awful friend. I'm sorry for not being able to save you from all this. I'm sorry for being responsible for your death", I weeped as the tears streamed down continuously.
I hugged her lifeless body like my life depended on it.
"I'm so sorry, Fizzy", I sobbed into her belly.
"Jade, don't", Jamie tried to get me off her.
"Don't what, Jamie? Don't what? I'm the one responsible for her death!", I yelled at him and he shook his head.
"You aren't responsible. Dylan is the one who's responsible", he said.
I looked at two familiar figures behind him.
There stood Fizzy's parents.
My knees felt wobbly as I looked at them.
I couldn't look at them. I lowered my head in shame and guilt.
"You're not responsible for her death, Jade", Fizzy's mom said as she neared me.
Every word she spoke, carried so much of pain with it.
I shook my head as more tears began to pour down.
"Please, Jade. Don't blame yourself. The cops told us what happened", she said as she wrapped her arms around me.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry", I cried into her shoulder.
She cried along with me.
"I'm sorry to hear about Dax. I know he'll be alright", she said after a while.
I pulled away and nodded.
"I'll leave you two with her", I said as I looked at Fizzy.
I gave her one last kiss on her cheek, "I love you, Fizzy. Thank you for being an amazing friend for most of my life".
Jamie hugged her for a while and whispered inaudibly to her.
We hugged her parents and walked away.
When we reached the door, we heard her parents cry loudly, mourning for the loss of their only child.
Jamie held my hand as we walked back to the intensive care unit.
A nurse told us that Dax was shifted to a private room.
She guided us to where Dax was and exited after Jamie thanked her.
Alex and Olivia were outside, talking with sad expressions.
"Honey, you sure you want to stay? Alex could stay here with Dax", Olivia spoke as she saw us.
"I'm fine. I wanna be with him", I sniffed and she nodded.
"I got you some clothes and towels", she said handing over a small bag to me.
She came forward to hug me, but I resisted because of my unclean clothes.
"Don't you want to hug me?", she asked.
"My clothes", I mumbled.
"To hell with it", she said as she pulled me into a tight hug.
"You are very strong, Jade. And so is my son", she whispered into my ears.
"Thank you", I whispered as she pulled away.
"Let's get you home, son", she said to Jamie.
"Um, I - I...", he trailed off.
"It's alright. We'll get you home safely", she said to him and he nodded.
"You want me to stay?", Jamie asked me.
"No, go home and get some sleep", I said.
"We both know that's not going to happen", he mumbled.
"Take care", he said and kissed my cheek.
"Bye, boy", I said and he lightly smiled.
"Take care, Jade. Don't hesitate to call anytime", Alex said as he gave me a hug before walking away with Olivia and Jamie.
Just then a nurse got out of Dax's room.
"Excuse me, can I use the bathroom inside to shower?", I asked her.
"Yeah, you can. But the water will be cold at this hour", she replied before walking away.
I held onto the door handle before pushing it and swinging the door open.
There lay my husband, wrapped in wires.
I shut the door and walked closer.
I looked at his face which was hid behind an oxygen mask. Several needles and medical instruments latched onto his skin. His bare chest had a bandage covering the area where he was shot.
"I'm sorry baby. I'm sorry that you had to take a bullet for me", I cried as I kissed his forehead.
"I love you, Dax. I will always love you", I said as I wiped my tears and headed to go take a shower.
