"I need some advice" I told Hero after tapping his arm so I could get his attention.

He was sitting down on the grass at the back of the school, his back touching a tree. He was reading The Last Beginning, the second book about Kate and Matt's story.

He took his headphones off his ears and turned his body to me giving me his full attention. I sat down on the grass next to him. My short skirt rode a little higher than intended and I saw his eyes driving on my legs for a split second. Just a split second. But it was enought for me to smirk mentally.

The truth is I was so furious with him.

Did he really think of us as just friends? Was I the only one taking the signs wrongly? Was I the only one who was feeling this way?

So I decided to give him a piece of what friends really meant.

"I need an advice with a boy" I signed mouthing the words as well.

His eyebrows rose together.

"Why are you asking me that? Wouldn't it be better to go to Mercy?" he signed back.

"I'm better friends with you. And you're a boy. What does a guy want from me? I want to break your code"

"I'm uncomfortable" he admitted.

"Why? You shouldn't be. Friends talk about that stuff with each other" I raised my eyebrows and smirked at him.

"Who's the guy?" he signed.

My mind went to the first guy I could think of.

"Bradley" I lied out loud.

He raised his eyebrows.

"Yeah, I'm not uncomfortable at all" he said with his voice sending shivers down my spine. He was so much better at speaking to me. He voice was almost clear enough. He seemed to be practicing.

"You shouldn't be. We're friends, right?" I said. He didn't answer. "Right?"

"Bradley is a douche, Jo" he was back to signing. "An asshole. A bully. He is not for you"

"I can see the good in him" I lied. I couldn't see it. I knew it was there but I couldn't see it. I just really hoped this guy would find someone who could.

"If you date him, we can't be friends" he started gathering his things ready to leave. I pushed him down to sit on the grass again before he could.

"Why?"

"He's my bully, Jo! It's like you're going up against me. He is an asshole with no fucking heart" he whisper-yelled.

"For all we know you have no heart either" I told him. "You don't believe in love and you have said before that failing relationships are girls' fault. This is a very asshole-ish behavior as well"

He pressed his lips together not asnwering.

"And you're always in a bad mood. You don't talk to anyone and when you do, you always cuss them out"

"Stop"

"Does the truth hurts?"

"I'm fucking deaf, Jo!"

"That doesn't give you any excuse, Hero!" I yelled at him. He bit his lip, his jaw clenching. "No excuse at all. You didn't choose it. You were born like this. God, took something from you and gave you something else. You have a family, a mother and a father who love you and would do anything for you. You have a sister who always has your back and a best friend who chose you and chose to put up with your fucking bullshit because he loves you!"
