Sanders received a phone call as he was just about finished with the paperwork for the case with the boy. Looking at the I.D. his heart faltered a little. Tentatively, Sanders answered the phone not knowing what to expect but knew it had to have something to do with the boy from earlier that evening. When he put his ear to the phone he could hear screaming on the other end and immediately became alert.

“Hello?” Sanders called.  “Hello! Is anyone there?” Sanders asked a little more frantically now. “Yes, hello, this is one of the hospitals staff,” the women paused as a crash could be heard in the background. “Are you the man the man who brought it in?”. At first Sanders could not understand what the woman meant by it. The only person he had brought in was the young boy however he chose to ignore it for the time being. “Yes I brought the boy in earlier today. Is there some sort of trouble”, Sanders asked. The woman replied with an immediate yes then hung up after muttering a hurry.

Sanders wasted no time in packing away the rest of his materials and heading to his car. He desperately wanted to know what happened and if there was something wrong with the boy. He could only assume something was wrong, especially when he heard the urgency in the staff workers voice over the phone. His mind kept reeling over the fact that the boy had wings.

Sanders didn’t understand how it was possible and as he drove to the hospital he determined he would not like the answer to his previous question. Humans were meant to be humans, Sanders thought, nevertheless he couldn’t deny the beauty of the boy’s wings.

As Sanders approached the hospital he hit the gas. The speed limit did not matter to him at the moment, only the well being of the boy. As soon as the car was parked Sanders basically flew out of his car and passed the open hospital doors. At the entrance was a young woman waiting to escort him to the room where the boy was being held. “Do you know what is wrong with him?” asked Sanders with worry clearly lanced in his voice. “You will have to see for yourself sir”, replied the nurse.

The closer to the destination Sanders got the louder he could hear crashing and banging noises. Once Sanders rounded the corner the nurse stopped in front of a door where the noises could be heard the loudest. He recognized the door as the one he walked through earlier to leave the boy in a room.  The nurse cautiously opened the door and peeked her head inside before opening the door all the way signaling for Sanders to enter.

Sanders was taken aback by the scene in front of him. The doctors were all in one corner trying to coax a scared young boy flying with wings back to the ground. However the boy was stubborn, scared and refused to go anywhere near the strange people. Snapping back to reality from the initial shock Sanders approached the crowd. As soon as he was within arms distance he told the people to back away slowly, leaving only him and the boy in a confined area.

Sanders noted that the boy seemed less frightened but still looked just as stubborn. Sanders held his hand up to the boy to show he meant no harm and quietly tried to convince him to land. The boy however did not know how to react and remained hovering. Now Sanders did not want to scare the boy any more than he already was but needed the boy to listen to authority. So with a more demanding tone he told the boy to come back down. At first the boy was hesitant but after Sanders repeated a stern now the obeyed with a slight whimper as a protest.

The boy landed a few feet in front of Sanders and cautiously reached his hand out towards Sanders. Sanders took the boys hand and smiled proudly much like a parent would. He didn’t know why but for some odd reason he felt a strange connection to the boy that warmed his heart.
