"What the hell was that!?" Callie yelled.
There was no time for anyone to answer. Screams came from the left and a bomb exploded from the right.
"What's happening?!" Stephen yelled.
"We need to get out of the city," I said.
"But what about everyone else here?" Felipe questioned, "We can't just abandon them."
"He's right," Commander Dace said, "We'll get as many people out of the city as we can but-"
"Look out!" Felipe shouted and another bolt of purple electricity shot from his hands and straight through the head of an Infected that was directly behind Commander Dace.
We all stared at the dead Infected, who disintegrated into ashes.
"Uh, guys..." Stephen said, "there's more..."
We followed Stephen's gaze and saw dozens of Infected running towards us, and based upon the number of scream and now gunshots I was guessing there was a helluva lot more where they came from.
"I think we should run," I stated.
"Ya think?" Felipe asked.
"Just GO!" Callie motioned towards herself and we all started running, following Callie out of the city.
"Wait!" Jessica yelled and ran towards me, "Terrance, Pago is still in the doctor's tent. He's locked in a cage"
"What?!" I looked around at the havoc. At least half a dozen Infected were right behind us, screams filled the air, and gunshots echoed across the town. The smell of smoke filled my lungs and my legs couldn't move fast enough. "You locked my dog in a cage!?"
"We had to otherwise he wouldn't stop trying to run to you and he had to rest."
Another grenade blew up far behind us.
"We have to blow it up," Callie yelled.
"What're you talking about?!" Dace yelled.
"The town, we have to blow up the town!"
"Are you crazy?!" Felipe said.
"No, listen to me. If we blow up the town we'll kill every Infected in here. There's no way we will survive if we go in there, it's suicide."
"Yeah," Felipe argued, "but what about all the other living people in this micro-city? You'll kill them too."
"Listen, human!" Callie yelled, the sound blood-curdling screams filled the air and the image of somebodies flesh getting ripped from his body filled my mind, "Everyone's already dying!"
"You can't give just up that easily," Stephen yelled. "There's still people we can save!"
"I agree with the kid," I said.
"Fine!" Callie said, "the Commander, Stephen, and I will go to EDAHOW and the rest of you have twenty minutes to get as many people out of here as you can."
"What's at EDAHOW?" I asked.
"Enough explosives to blow this place to the moon and back," Dace answered.
One of the Infected who were chasing us grabbed Stephen's arm and Callie shot it in the neck. Everyone stopped and stared at the remaining five Infected still chasing us. Their eyes were ruby-red and their mouths were open in expectation of a feast.
"It would've been nice, " I complained "If you'd let us keep our damn weapons."
"Tough," Callie said, and shot another one of the Infected in the shoulder.
Felipe shot more electricity through his veins and out his hands like freaking Spider-Man or something, and I punched one of them in the mouth for getting to close.
Probably would've bitten my hand off had I not been wearing the gloves I found in my room.
"Thank God for leather gloves, right?" I said to Stephen, who nodded nervously.
Once Callie and Felipe had killed all five of the Infected, about ten more filled their place.
"Really?" Callie groaned.
Felipe yelled, "Callie, you go do your thing and Jessica, Terrance, and I will get as many people out as we can. Go, now!"
No one argued. Felipe, Jessica, and I ran through an alleyway into the city and Dace, Callie, and Stephen ran in the opposite direction into the city.
"Where are we going?" Jessica asked.
"We have to get Pago," I said, it wasn't a request. "We can pick up anyone we find on the way."
"Who's Pago?" Felipe said, "You know what, never mind, lead the way."
Jessica rushed to the front, since she was really the only one who knew where to go, and we followed her into the small city.
The sights were almost as unbearable as the smell. Most of the Infected in the city didn't even notice us, they were all too busy gorging themselves on dead civilians...at least most of them were dead. Jessica looked like she was going to throw up, but she shook it off and kept running. Felipe was continuously shooting the Infected with his bolts of electricity.
Dozens of Infected crawled over the city as numerous as ants, plundering the city of its inhabitants. How could there have been so many of them in the city and no one noticed it?
"He's in here!" Jessica yelled before ducking into a tent.
Pago was growling in his cage, he was backed up as far as he could go, and his teeth were showing in an aggressive snarl. A couple of Infected were standing in the corner opposite the dog and looked like they were discussing something.
"But if we eats them," one was saying, "them won't comes back to play with us."
"Oh, but if we don't eat them," the other Infected said, "they might eat us. I don't much like those look of their teeth."
"Hey!" Felipe shouted, "Why don't you eat this?" Felipe shot two electrical bolts, one out of each hand, that struck both Infected in their mouths, frying them instantly.
Jessica ran to open the cage and Pago leaped out, looking relieved to be free. He looked completely healed, not even a scratch.
Another loud explosion sounded outside from outside.
"Let's get out of here," Jess said.
We ran outside and saw three enormous missiles in the sky pointing straight towards us.
"Damn it, Callie!" Felipe said, "We need to move, NOW!"
Nobody asked any questions, we ran for our lives towards the outskirts of town. I could hear the bombs as the fell from the sky. The sound was nearly deafening and I knew they would hit any second. There wasn't enough time for us to get out, we were going to be obliterated into nothing but ashes.
Felipe said something that no one could hear and pointed towards the fence that enclosed the small city, it was at least thirty yards away, no way in hell would we make it in time. I looked behind my shoulder and saw the missiles. They were maybe ten seconds from hitting the town. This is it, this is how I am going to die, how we're all going to die.
I saw Felipe look back, and when he saw the missiles his eyes grew wide and a determined look crossed his face. He stopped in his tracks and pulled us all towards him. We all huddled together, Jessica was in tears, and Pago was barking his head off before he put his head down and started whining. All I did was stare at the sky, watching the missiles come. I counted down the last few seconds until they would hit...

The bombs crashed into the town, turning it and everything inside into nothing but ashes.
