Alessio's Story Part 4
1 year later
"What do you mean they're not there! Stop calling them and find them!" I slam the phone and take a seat in my office chair. These newbies have no work ethic. They want everything handed to them on a silver platter.
My phone rings again. If it's one of these newbies again calling about bullshit, I'm going to kill them my self. "What!" I yell over the phone.
"You sound stressed," Leo says over the phone.
Stressed isn't the word to describe how I feel. Running a company with twenty incompetent agents with a death wish is levels above stress. "You have no idea," I sigh. Leo, what can I help you with?"
"Oh nothing," he sings. "Just wondering if you wanted to have a drink tonight is all."
"Aren't you in Italy?"
"No, I'm in New York, well soon approaching it. I should land in an hour, which is more than enough time for you to finish up and meet me for a drink."
"Why?" I ask as I flip through the pages of paperwork that are scattered on my desk. Running a contract killing company is more work than I thought.
"To celebrate the company's one year anniversary," he answers.
It's been one year since Leo asked me to oversee his assassin company. Oversee, is handling all the funds, keeping track of the contracts and watching over these piss poor excuses for agents. "I'll rather not," I quickly say.
"Well, as your boss, I'm telling you to have a drink with me."
I purse my lips, I can't say no. "Sure," I sigh.
"Great," he hangs up the phone and I get through the paperwork. Shit, these missions are far too advanced for anyone here. I won't have much of a team if I send all them to these places. But, shit, these clients are too important to pass up.
I'm going to have to call him again. Fuck
I dial his number, "hello," he sings.
"Damien," I sigh. Why the hell is he so happy all the time.
"Yes, Boss?" I can hear his smile through the phone. If he wasn't so good at his job, I would have axed him by now.
"I need you to go to Switzerland after your current mission. I'll send you the details soon."
I attempt to hang up the phone, "wait!"
I sign, "yes, Damien?"
"Is Odella there?"
I look through my glass wall at my assistant/ computer tech. "Yes, why?"
"Tell her I love her, would you."
"Damien," I sigh. Odella is a shy girl, saying that to her would surely give her a heart attack. The first day here, he set his sights on the shy girl and now he claims to be in love with her. I don't know if it's a reoccurring joke of his or if he actually means it.
"Just tell her that... please for me. I haven't seen her in months and I want to hear her cute little voice." Why am I getting in the middle of this?
"How about I transfer the call and you tell her yourself?"
He makes a noise, "I'm shy," he lies. My eyebrow twitches and a snort comes out of my nose. Shy? That's hilarious. Damien? "Wait a minute, did I make you laugh Alessio?"
"No," I refute.
"I think, I did. Holy shit! Aless-" I hang up the phone. I don't have time for him today.
