Valentine's Day

Thank god for no morning sickness this time around. But damn it I'm just so scared tired, I feel like I haven't slept in a week and that's all I've been doing for the past 2 days. I told everyone what I would like to do, since PL will not be going back full force any time soon. I said I want to release an album of us doing covers, like Metallica did with Garage Inc. Everyone thinks it's an awesome idea, but they want to do at least 20 tracks, now we just need to figure out what, cuz I'm only dead set on one, we're definitely doing 'How Soon Is Now' it is the very first song I ever learned how to play. Oh Dylan is back too, we had a get together to celebrate. Whatever, it's my birthday, fuck, I'm getting old. I also have my ultrasound today, we're going to find out the gender of this baby. I'm not as upset about this one as I was Winter. Actually I'm kind of looking forward to it.
I opted to have Dylan go with me for this one, Winter is not feeling so great today and just wants to be with her daddy so well, she got her way. "Do you want another girl?" "I just want healthy," I look Dylan in the eyes, "but I do kind of hope it's a boy, I can just imagine when Skye starts dating." "Okay," the ultrasound tech says grabbing a bottle of gel, she looks at me, "shut the front door!" I let out a laugh. "What?" Dylan. "Hi yourself," I say to the tech(Luciana is an old friend who moved away in like the tenth grade, she's also Dylan and Blaine's cousin). "I just, damn! I'm sorry, it's just well..." Dylan looks at the tech, she narrows her eyes. "Lucky?" "The one and only. Now Alex seeing as you've been pregnant before you know the drill, shirt up." I lift my shirt and she squeezes some gel onto my stomach. She puts the transducer on my stomach. "So, were finding out gender today, let's find this little one first, she moves the transducer around, um Alex?" "What?" I ask. "You do know you're having twins right?" "WHAT?!!" "I'll take that as a no." "Definitely not, Chris is going to freak!" "Who?" "Woman," Dylan says sarcastically, "have you been under a rock?" "Maybe, tell me after cuz you're 19 weeks we should be able to determine gender right now," she moves the transducer again, "baby a, is definitely a boy ," she moves it again "and baby b, there's a leg," another move of the transducer, "a girl." I put a hand to my head. "Great, just great, a mini little asshole running around." I laugh. Luciana wipes the transducer and clips it back into place next to the monitor. She hands me a damp towel for my stomach. "Okay now that that's over, you bitches can fill me in." "Okay, well, you already know about Winter, well, me and Chris got married about two years ago." "You, the motherfucking ice queen for satan's sake got married?" "Yeah, I mean we have been together for shit, twenty-three years now." "Yeah, but as long as I've known you, you have been against marriage, you even wrote a paper on why it's a money sucking pointless industry, and I quote '79% of marriages end in divorce, so what's the fucking point?' Mrs Danielson gave you a week suspension." "I know, but I figured, he did ask, it was a simple yes or no answer, and I do love the moron."
That afternoon I'm sitting on the couch in my bedroom with my knees curled up to my chest. I was just starting to be happy about being pregnant, but twins? This is NOT happening. Then for some reason I just start laughing, I'm thinking about the paper Luciana quoted from, it actually got recycled, by Chris the very next year, he got two weeks suspension for turning in my work! "What's so funny?" "New ultrasound technician, fun flashback to tell the kids when they're older." "So do I need to get a shotgun and a shovel?" "Most likely, I mean you are pretty lethal with a hockey stick, but yeah it's a girl." I pause. "And a boy." I nod and put up two fingers, "yes," I squeak, "it's twins," I grab the the picture from the table behind me and hand it to him. He looks at the picture and promptly faints crashing into the table. I quickly stand up and then I hear footsteps coming up the stairs and  down the hall, I can tell it's more than one set. "$20 says she knocked his ass cold again." "You're on!" Justin and Blaine. I open my bedroom door and poke my head out, You fuckers owe me $40 then, cuz I did not do this." "I literally just opened the door when we heard the crash" Blaine says. "Blaine, I'm sure Wisconsin heard that crash. Now go get the first aid kit, there's blood involved, you may wanna stay out, you," I look at Justin, "help me."
Later that night after Chris put Winter to bed we're cuddled on the couch watching Halloween, "I can't believe you actually fainted," I chuckle. "I know, not my finest hour," he wraps his arm around my shoulders and kisses my cheek. "How's your head?" "Better now." "Good." "All I remember is you saying something about Wisconsin." I laugh. "Blaine and Justin came over to help me with something, and they heard you crash, those dumb asses made a bet that I knocked you out again. I said I was sure they heard that crash in Wisconsin." With that Chris's phone starts ringing. He answers it. "What?" "Mom, calm down," he puts his hand on his head, "yes, well actually here, maybe Alex should tell you," he holds the phone out to me, I literally give him the 'are you that fucking stupid?' look.  "Okay, well it's another girl, and a boy," pause, "yes mom, we're having twins." I cover my mouth so she doesn't hear me laugh out loud, Chris holds the phone out to me again. I put my hands up. "If I talk to your mother I'm gonna tell her your reaction, you owe me a new table mister,"I whisper. "Fine." "Mom, Ali's being sick, I gotta go." He hangs up. "You really should go get me some cake." "What's in it for me?" "A slightly less annoyed wife?" Really?" "It's my birthday." "Touché." Chris stands up and heads for the kitchen returning a few minutes later with my cake and a glass of milk.
After the movie I pick up my guitar and start to play, for some reason I'm just going random, it's nothing really, then I just, I don't know why, but 'Sinematic' comes to mind and I start to play it, Chris sits next to me on the couch, I don't feel like singing but he does
