Trying to formulate the words on
Your child-like tongue, stumbling
Through deoxyribonucleic acid
And the ladders of AGTC
Climbing up the serpent's spine
And my own meagre brain
Explaining the disjointed eco-maps
Of amino acids and quantized
Energy fields in atoms
Facts and figures based on
Other Oracles of knowledge
Bohr models, photons, DeBroglie relationships,
The electromagnetic spectrum,
Chromosomes, life from a pinpoint.
Explaining that was like trying to
Breathe life into a dead stone.
Thankfully you grasped what
Little beams of nonsensical light I
Had to offer, spinning the threads
Upon your tongue like a spider with a fly
Whilst I moped alongside the protagonist
Of a heartbroken love, quashed between
Pages wet with lust, bubblebath and unshed tears.
Instead you lovingly disembowelled Gnosticism
Orating quotes like bards recite poetry
To my naked form; a nebulous whale with too
Many mountains and not enough ribs who wallowed
In silent loving admiration of her Adonis
Whilst your heart licked up with love
For romanticism and literature.
We allowed the bath to cool alongside
That flared up self shared interest
As I noted, almost in awe
That "I never knew they floated"
And instantaneously I killed all of
The intellect in that room
With perfect innocence.
