Chapter 15

With the last tiny glimpse of hope, Austin was banging down the door, trying to get in.

"He's early!" Marcus lifted his wait off of me and grabbed the knife.

"Hey, I'm back!" Austin said as he shut the door, "Why was the door locked?"

"Leave him alone!" I kicked the knife out of his hand and then picked it up.

"Gone on... you can't can you!" He laughed and then he added, "you're such a weakling, you don't have the guts! I can't even look at you!"

With that, he pulled my arm and I lunged forward and the knife went into his stomach. "Can you look at me now?" I whispered.

"What's going on?" Austin asked as he placed the bags on the floor.

Still holding my arm, he pulled out the knife and the way he held it, it looked like he was going to slaughter me. I didn't call for Austin because I didn't want him to get murdered. Before he plunged the knife in my chest, I did the only other option which could kill us both or we could survive...

I threw myself down the stairs and because he was holding on to me, he fell down after me dropping the knife at the top step.

"Lexi!" Austin ran to help.

"No, Austin. Please!" I screamed to get him away. "He'll kill you!"

Marcus was alive but unconcious from all the blood. I didn't even notice the blood pouring out of my arm.

"It's alright," Austin hugged me, "I'm going to call the police."

"Hey, we're back!" Mason opened the door as I sat on the blood-stained stairs. "What happened?" Mason ran over to me, "are you alright? Who's that in the kitchen? Who's that?"

Marcus's words had finally sunken in I couldn't talk or move or even breathe! I just sat there staring at the body laying at the bottom of the stairs. I didn't want anyone to touch me.

"They said they'll be here in five minutes. Why didn't you shout for me?" Austin knelt down to me.

I jumped and then was shaking. "You... would have been... k..killed..." my voice broke. "Sorry about your shirt."

"You're almost murdered and your worried about a shirt?!" Austin couldn't believe it, "you're bleeding!" Austin ripped off the sleeve making flinch again. "A stab wound?"

I had to explain it all again to the police after the paramedics stitched up my arm. "... and that's how the knife is on the top of the stairs, I've got the stab wound, how he's got the stab wound and how we had fallen down the stairs..." I summed up.

"Thank you miss, we have enough evidence to get him arrested from assult, attempted murder, harrassment and sexual assult." The police officer let me go and I ran straight to Austin.

Driving home, Austin didn't say a word. Even when we got home he didn't say one word. Austin followed me upstairs and sat on the end of the bed with his head in his hands. I got changed into my pyjamas and brought the bloody clothes out with me.

"We can burn them tomorrow." I threw them in the bin.

"Listen to me," Austin lifted his gaze to mine, "you need to stop fearing that I will get killed if anything like this happens."

"I know... I just care about you... that's all..." I playfully looked at the floor.

"Come here" he pulled me closer to him and then he sat me on his lap. "I care about you too."

I kissed him because my lips were dying for his. His hands rubbed my arms but he forgot about my stitches which caused me to bite my lip. Austin let out a sigh. I stood up; pulling Austin to his feet. I placed his arms dangerously around my lower back and kissed him again. I think deep down I wanted to make it up to him but how I was going to do it... made me nervous. Austin obviously didn't feel like it because he pushed me away and said:
