Hinata POV
What happened? One second I was on the roof of an office block and the next I could feel the cold earth giving me goosebumps through my gym shorts. My gym shorts.. Wait-- MY GYM SHORTS? My eyes snapped open and I looked down at my legs. Sure enough, I was sat cross legged on the ground wearing my Karasuno gym kit. What is happening? Am I dead? Am I in a dream? I felt a cool chill on my back and realized I was sat with my back against a familiar and nostalgic building.
Think Hinata, think. What happened? I was going to jump. I remember I was about to jump. Wait I think I did jump- yes I remember I jumped from the building. But surely if that were true I would be a mangled corpse on the ground right now, yet I hear my heartbeat thudding in my ears and the warm breath coming from my mouth is real enough.Out of POV
The orange haired boy surveyed the scene around him, trying to order his emotions and understand what had just happened. "T-this can't be real" stammered Hinata. "I'm dead. It's the only explanation. I fell from the building and now I am in hell, it has to be..-"
He was sharply cut off by a mysterious laugh that started quietly but crescendoed louder and louder.
"How amusing".
Hinata tried to focus on where the voice was coming from but he could see there was no one else around.
"W-who is it?" stuttered the boy with a nervous edge to his voice.
"You've forgotten me? Tut tut we only just made the deal 2 minutes ago. Well your memory is bound to be hazy for now but I'm astounded you don't remember the devil who saved your life"
"The devil.. you! You were the one I saw after I jumped, I remember, I remember" Hinata gabbled eagerly.
His body was filled with relief when he realised he wasn't dead and his years build-up of depression seemed to be a distant memory, a dream almost. Or perhaps a nightmare would be more accurate.
"That's right" laughed the devil. "I gave you this second chance. Well perhaps 'gave' is the wrong word. Nothing in this world is free. More like I traded you this chance"
Hinata gulped. He had read enough manga to understand that making a deal with a celestial being never ended well for any character. What was he thinking?
"The deal.. umm what exactly.. did it involve.."
"Well as you have probably pieced together from your surroundings, I have transported you back in time to the point in your life you were the happiest. I have also taken the liberty of taking away your feelings of loneliness so.. your welcome"
Hinata could not believe what he was hearing. Did he really get a second chance? Did he deserve this?
"And what do you get from this deal Mr devil sir"
"Cut the 'sir' bullshit my name is Eiji. And that.. is for you to find out"
The orange haired boy pondered over these words. How was this fair if he didn't even know what he had traded?
"This is a very one sided deal!" exclaimed Hinata pouting.
"I'll tell you one thing" said Eiji in a much more serious tone losing his playfulness. "The only way for you to be happy in this life is to stop denying your feelings for Kage-""What the hell are you pouting about shrimp?"
Hinata's puppy eyes blinked in shock and looked up at the tall dark haired boy towering above him.
"Ka-Kageyama!""What's up with you Hinata? Why are you staring at me like that shrimp" blushed Kageyama angrily. "You are making me uncomfortable"
"Kageyama! You remember me? No way I can't believe you remember me!" exclaimed Hinata rising to his feet and circling the dark haired boy.
"Of course I remember you baka we practiced volleyball after school yesterday didn't we, why are you acting so strangely?"
Hinata couldn't stop staring at his crush. He circled Kageyama taking in the fact that this was real.
"Pinch me! I don't believe this is real I don't believe it!" smiled Hinata in awe.Kageyama grabbed Hinata's head and tugged on his orange tufty hair which sent small sharp pains across his scalp.
"Seem real enough? What has gotten into you are you high or something??"
The small boy kept staring at Kageyama's face and seemed to smile when he grabbed his hair. This made Kageyama blush a deep purple and turn his head away from Hinata mumbling "Shrimp baka".Hinata's POV
He is blushing. My crush is blushing at me and he still hasn't taken his hand away from my head. I know what I need to do to be happy. I won't waste this second chance. All I have to do is make Kageyama fall in love with me no matter what it takes. Surely it can't be that hard....
Out of POV
After standing still for what seemed like an eternity to Kageyama, he practically dragged Hinata into the gym in annoyance. He was annoyed that Hinata was wasting precious practice time with his silly antics. But he was also annoyed at himself for the thoughts that had entered his head when Hinata was acting pouty and cute. 'This small boy is messing with my head' Kageyama thought in a huff. After a few deep breaths he tried to clear his head and focus his mind on practice. He especially needed to focus and help Hinata who was flailing all over the place. It looked like he hadn't played volleyball in years!
