DPOV
"You." I blatantly stated the obvious. She really was, since my Roza was still on my hip and she didn't register. But, god, was I in for it. "And she is right here, so it would be useful if you didn't explode. For once." I couldn't believe the older Guardian was- for all intents and purposes- my mother-in-law.
"Why?" Janine hissed. "Why is she here, asleep on your hip?"
"Because we're going home." Well. That was one way to reveal my relationship with her daughter.
"I hope you mean you're dropping her off at her dorm then coming back to yours. Alone."
"No. I don't mean that. She's spending the night in mine."
"She's your student!" That woke my sleeping beauty. And pissed her off to no end.
"Mother!" my Roza snapped.
I gently brought my love's face to look at mine. "Rose, please, please calm down."
"I'm sorry, Dimitri." A look of love, apology, regret and concern crossed her face before she nodded and snuggled into the crook of my neck.
"It's okay, Rose, it's okay. You got startled." I gently ran a hand through her hair, that hair I loved and could never get enough of. "Do you want me to set you down?" I gently asked.
"Not really."
"Rose, that doesn't really help."
"Okay, set me down." I carefully placed her on her feet, then pushed her behind me so I defensively and protectively stood in front of my family.
"What the hell, Belikov?!" Janine snapped.
"She's precious. She's precious, sensitive and vulnerable."
"It is, Dimitri. Not me." Roza huffed half-heartedly.
"That was terrible, Rose. I know, I know you know that you're only as strong as it." Yuk! Reducing our own child to a thing.
"What's with the code?" Janine demanded.
"Rose?"
"She'll find out anyway." my woman sighed, almost dejectedly and stepped beside me. "Mom, you better keep an open mind here."
"Rosemarie?" her mother questioned.
"I'm going to pretend you didn't use that name. At least try and remember I know your opinions on this matter."
"Spit it out." her mother directed.
"Dimitri, you might want to restrain me before I say a word."
"Come here, you." I smiled warmly and brought her into chest. She spun to face her mom, but my arms made sure she was secured to me, via her waist.
"Mom, I'm pregnant." she could be beautifully blunt sometimes. And her next words drove home the point. "With a Belikov baby."
"Impossible." Janine laughed at her daughter.
"I'm impossible, Mother. I'm telling you, I'm eight weeks along and Dimitri is Daddy." Janine paled at that. Then went bright red in anger as she glared at me."Belikov!" she growled. "You didn't cross That line! Not with my daughter, not with your student!"
"Mom, please. I'm eighteen, and he's not my mentor." Roza pleaded then commented.
"Roza, settle. Please." I breathed in her ear. "It's backdated to your birthday." I softly whispered so only she could hear. "Guardian Hathaway," I addressed my mother-in-law once Rose relaxed. "I haven't officially been her mentor since her birthday. I love her and she's my world. They are." Oh boy. I did not like the look on Janine's face, but I would not cower. That five-nothing Hathaway was lethal, and scared me senseless, but Rose was my other half and giving me a family. Therefore,I would stand tall to protect them.
"Belikov, you, me and the gym. Now!"
"Fine. Roza, I love you both, and try to sleep." I pecked my woman's cheek and handed her my dorm key.
"I love you too, we do, Daddy. And we promise to try and sleep."
Janine looked repulsed by the use of the plural.
Rose then pecked my lips and left- making sure to send a warning glare and a growled "you hurt him, you hurt me." her mother's way.Once Rose was out of earshot Janine said, "the gym. And you'd better be on your game." She then led us towards the gym.
