DPOV
Well, that was an interesting birthday surprise. I'd snapped at my precious Roza because I couldn't keep an open mind.It was my twenty-fifth birthday and my eighteen year old soulmate had granted me my biggest wish. God. I loved her, I loved them. It was a birthday I was never going to forget, that was for sure. I was going to have a family with the woman of my dreams. And they were worth the risk of dropping the cover. She was not going to face rumours and bullying on her own; my protectiveness ran too deep.
So. I had finally talked my miracle's mother into coming with me to see Alberta. I'd finally convinced her it was the best thing for me to drop being her mentor. It wasn't like I was going to let her train anyway. She'd made us stop to pick up her copy of the file on the way to Petrov's office. I took my Roza's hand in mine, then knocked on Petrov's door. Here goes... Nothing or everything.
"Come in!" the captain of the guardian's called practically immediately.
Roza shot me a concerned look, and almost felt her worry radiating off her. I placed a hand over her abdomen and smiled. I felt her melt under my touch as I saw her tension leave- well, lessen. Much better. I pressed a quick kiss to her forehead before opening the door. Of course, I did the gentlemanly thing, and let Roza in before me.
"Belikov? Rose? What's-" Alberta looked between us, then at the hand entwined with my love's. Oh, I could be shot if this goes badly. "Oh!" My boss gasped in... excitement? as a knowing look and a fond expression crossed her face. "Shut the door, Belikov." I shut and locked it. "Belikov, it's about time you grew a pear." I received a glare.
"Alberta?!" Rose screeched. "What the hell?!"
"Rose, please keep calm." I lovingly whispered in her ear while slowly rubbing up and down her arms. She shivered under its effects. When calm, I wrapped my arms around her waist. The waist which would soon be stretching thanks to our growing child.
"Okay, that wasn't freaky at all. Lovebirds." Petrov commented.
"Petrov, I'm here with a notification."
"I sort of gathered, with the way you're wrapped around your so-called student." Alberta let her amusement show.
"Alberta." God, I was showing a large amount of disrespect. It was only in the hope she'd actually focus.
"Oh." The captain sobered. "You're serious."
"Yes, Petrov. I can't mentor her anymore. I won't mentor her."
"And I'm dropping being mentored at all." my angel sang from her place in my embrace.
"Why, Rose? I get Belikov's move, but you dropping extra hours?"
"Alberta." My other half sighed before continuing. "I can't afford to spend extra hours in the gym." I then received a face-full of 'it's time'.
"Of course, Rose."
"Again, not freaky at all." Petrov noted as I disentangled to grab the second folder. "I get that you've got your own language..."
"Shall I, Rose? Or would you rather-"
"Us." I was responded to and sent a loving look from the brown eyes that saw into my soul. The woman took ahold of the folder and looked at Petrov, staring the guardian down and daring her to contradict the evidence within the folder we held.
"Rose? Belikov?" One day day those two names will flow on and belong to one woman. I swear, or I'll be a dead man if it never happens.
"Alberta," we sang in unison. "We've done the impossible." I stepped up to the desk with Rose, together, we placed the folder down.Petrov picked up the file, glanced at it, then us, then it and nearly dropped it. It had clicked.
"Just read." Roza gave Petrov the same instructions I'd received. And followed them, opening the folder and reading the contents."Aw." escaped the Guardian's mouth.
"The ultrasound image?" Rose asked.
"Yes." Petrov provided.
"That's nothing compared to hearing our badass baby's beating heart. This one," I got elbowed playfully. "Has turned me sappy. I cried when I heard it."
"Not my doing, love. That's all Bubby." I playfully returned.
"And Bubby's half you."
"Rose logic." I sighed. "And it has a point."
"You mean, I have a point." the gorgeous woman corrected.
"Naturally." I softly smiled at her.
"Ew! Get a room; parents!" Alberta laughed at us.
"You can clearly see what happened last time we did that." Rose retorted.
"Yes, I can. What I can't clearly see is you two's plan."
"We're dropping the facade." I responded. "I'm dropping my mentorship of Rose and we're dropping the facade. This is my family, and no one is going to hurt my woman with bullying and rumours I can't defend and protect her from. She needs my support and won't be able to have it if I'm still her mentor."
"Age-wise, you are legal." she sighed. "Have a seat, Mom and Dad. This may take a while." Alberta gestured to the two seats opposite her side of the desk.
"Daddy, if you're thinking of letting me go- you're insane." Rose commented.
"Roza." I quietly groaned in her ear as I sat us in a chair, with her on my lap and my arms carefully secured her to me by her waist.
"I use that term as easily as you do-"
"You don't." Alberta interrupted anything I could have added, or any response Rose could have made.
"The world doesn't exist right now, does it?" No. It doesn't. It never did when my Roza was near.
"No. It hardly ever does." Rose replied. And I think I paled. That woman was the opposite of private sometimes. But she wasn't totally public, either.
"Rose, even I know it's a 'never', not a 'hardly ever'." Alberta corrected, and I think I paled again.
"Petrov." I strained out. Yes, I may be a Guardian, but I like my privacy. "Can we please get this sorted."
"Bubby wants some sleep." Rose added.
"Of course." Alberta nodded and got to work.
